TAMPA BAY'S DINGMAN SUSPENDED FOR TWO GAMES;
CAROLINA'S BOULERICE FINED $1,000
NEW YORK (Oct. 16, 2002) ?Tampa Bay Lightning forward Chris Dingman has been suspended for two games, without pay, for a high-sticking incident involving Carolina Hurricanes forward Jesse Boulerice in NHL Game #24 on October 12, the National Hockey League announced today. Boulerice was fined $1,000, the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, on the play.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Dingman will forfeit $7,222.22. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
The incident occurred at 15:34 of the third period, Dingman was assessed a major penalty for high-sticking and a match penalty under Rule 43 - Attempt to Injure, while Boulerice received a minor penalty for high-sticking.
Dingman will miss the Lightning's games October 18 against Atlanta and October 19 at Pittsburgh. He will be eligible to return on October 21 at NY Rangers.
