The wife and I are headed up there at the end of the month and are looking for other things to do.

So far here is what we got..

We will get up there on the 28th and plan on staying on the Canadian side. There is suppose to be a casino near there so thats what we will do that night. On the 29th we will visit the falls and we were told that there is a tour that takes you behind the falls so we will do that.

After that we are totally stumped. We would like to go farther into Canada but dont know of any points of interest. We had thought about taking a trip around the top and coming back down thru the UP but we have to pick up her son on the 31st in Detroit so that is out.

Any info on things to do in Canada would be appreciated.

Thanks

wow.........a madjacker coming to my neck of the woods......sweet :) Sure the fellow madjackers in my area will chime in....but here is my two cents:

For the Niagara Falls, Ontario Region
-----------------------------------------------

1) Casino Niagara............do a great job when it comes to "comps", just sign up for a players club card and you'll be surprised how easy it is to get free rooms.......not sure how much gambling you'll be doing...but thought I'd mention it. If you're there on the weekend......I have one word for ya....CROWDED!!

http://discoverniagara.com/casino/main/index.php

2) Niagara-on-the Lake.........it's about a 25 minute drive from the casino.......beautiful little town, and a great place for couples. Trust me, your wife will love it!

http://www.niagaraonthelake.com/

3) Falls.................if ya like getting wet.......take a ride on the "maid of the mist" ........can't get any closer to the falls unless you go over them yourself!

http://www.maidofthemist.com/

4) Clifton Hill..........it's about a 2 minute walk from the casino...great nightlife (Thurs, Fri, Sat) if your into that sort of thing!!

http://www.cliftonhill.com/

For outside the Niagara Falls Region
-----------------------------------------------

ok I could go on forever about places to go and things to see if you are interested in seeing more of Ontario, but not sure if you are aware that Toronto is not that far away from the Falls! It's about 80 miles........I'm not sure on your time frame but I would highly recomend checking out Toronto....one dam cool city! Please note that if ya drive from Niagara Falls to Toronto make sure you don't get caught in rush hour......traffic is horrific around here.

but if ya do go to Toronto......ya have to go up the CN Tower...your a tourist...it just has to be done  :D

have fun on your trip...........and if I'm not mistaken there's about 10 madjackers from Southern Ontario that would be glad to help ya out.......just ask madjack for my e-mail if you have any other questions..........and hey let me know when your leaving maybe I'll meet cha at the blackjack table :D

AND at the end of the month there is a HUUUUUUUGGGGGEEE concert in Toronto.......expecting as many as 400 000 people, so you might want to keep that in the back of your mind as well :)

-------JULY 30th--------

The Stones are coming to Toronto. And they're coming with a collection of bands that've never appeared on the same stage together. Ever. Like AC/DC, Rush, The Guess Who, Justin Timberlake, Sam Roberts, The Flaming Lips, Kathleen Edwards, The Isley Brothers, Sass Jordan, La Chicane and

Hosted by Jim Belushi-Dan Aykroyd

Thanks for the info.

Does the casino itself have a motel? I checked out the site but couldnt find any info for rooms.
We will definitly be hitting the tables when we get there. I will get your e-mail and let you know what time we will be there so maybe we can meet up for some blackjack and beer.

I am looking for things to do that are not normal tourist stops.
(except for the falls ride)
I figure every town has things to do in it that only the locals know about. For example I would rather eat at a hole in the wall local resturant that has great food than go to a major chain that all the tourists end up at.

kickserv has given excellent info.

When i had gone down for a day to Niagara .. had booked a room at Happiness Inn .. $59 Canadian for a day including .. continental breakfast and $20 of chips at the casino .. I had gone last year.

Only if you book thru http://www.discoverniagara.com

Place where I stayed was decent. Mebbe 15 min walk from Casino.

http://www.happinessinn.com I think is their website.

If ya book thru discoverniagara u can get the free chips and stuff also and a better rate.

Cheers !!!

Above the Clouds....
Kickserv gave you good ideas. We go every year on a mini vacation for 3-4 days. Plenty to do there, plan at least 2-3 days at the falls. We stay at the Holiday Inn at the base of the Skylon, they offer packages that include free dinner, but it may be out of season right now. Dinner at the Skylon is a little pricey but the view is great, take your camera and eat about 8pm, they lite up the falls and the pictures are great. Get a shuttle pass and ride the bus all day, there are many stops, Casino, Clifton Hill, the Falls, the park, the Whirl Pool and alot more. There is plenty to do. Stop at Hard Rock or Planet Hollywood for a drink. Walking behind the falls was not on my highlite list, all you see is water rushing down in front of you. Definetly ride on the Maid of the Mist, well worth the money and better than behind the falls. Walk from the falls to the Casino, the national park is really nice. The Canadian side is a lot nicer than US side. We always stay in Canada. Exchange you money at Table Rock or Duty Free you get a little better rate. Have Fun

Thanks for all of the ideas.

We just booked with the Holiday inn for the 28th-30th. They still had the package deal going on so thats why we took that one.
It sounds like there are alot of things to do if we can make it past the casino:D

Kickserv...I couldnt get your e-mail so I dont know how to contact you.

If any other Madjackers are going to be there or are from around there you can get my e-mail from Jack.

Thanks again
