I was wondering what some Alabama fans thought about Saban ?

Lets face it the reason why Miami is so pissed about it, is Saban had them playing good football
with good things to look forward to.

what do you think Saban will be able to do at
Alabama ?

I think its a good decision but I am not fan of Ala.

The man can definitely coach, no doubt about that. I'm thrilled that Alabama has him. Hopefully he can do the same things at Alabama that he did at LSU. His intensity and enthusiasm will be a welcome addition to the sidelines. Will that equal wins? I think so... there is definitely some talent there right now for him to start with. Give him a few years to get his recruits in place and I'm expecting big things. The fact he left Miami the way he did doesn't really bother me. The NFL is a business... but having said that, I do believe he could have crafted his denials better than he did... and he said as much in his press conference. I just find it funny that ESPN had Daddy Don Shula on every 5 minutes last week to get his opinion on the Alabama situation. He's not the most objective person to ask that question to... son was fired by Alabama, then they hired away the head coach from the team he is on the Board of Directors of. What I love is all of the coaching talent on the sidelines now in the SEC. Definitely going to just intensify an already tough SEC.

i'm not a Tide or Mia fan, but i think the fact that he flat out lied about "not" taking the 'Bama job has pissed off a lot of people....

how is this gonna affect his recruiting abilities? are potential recruits going to look at him and say, "can i trust this guy?".....

He lied at Mich St, and then lied at LSU. That's his MO. He develops talent, particularly in the secondary. I bet other SEC coaches will use his lack of integrity against him when recruiting same players.

Saban realized he should have stayed in college. I see nothing wrong with him getting back into it. The reality is that at LSU he was able to pick and choose all in-state talent, while doing a nice job in Texas, Miss, Arky and Bama. At Bama, he will be battling for every in-state blue-chipper, but I see good things for Bama in the future. Hell, things certainly can't get worse in Tuscaloosa.

All that being said, the reality is that Saban led LSU to only 1 season with less than 3 losses. I know that I would trade him for Miles today, but I know he is not the Messiah that everyone is making him out to be.

SEC West is now the strongest division in the strongest conference imo.

Not really getting into an anti-SEC thing, but what SEC coaches can throw out the integrity card. Richt? Johnson? Croom?

Saban turned LSU around after back to back losing seasons and got a NC in 4 years. He did so much with so little at MSU, too. His hiring makes the SEC West so much stronger - Already excited about the 2007 season.
