Nik Turley will be called up Sunday to start against the Giants in San Francisco, according to the Twins. It will be Turley?s major league debut.
Turley has outstanding numbers this season, splitting his time between Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Rochester. In 52.2 IP across the two levels, Turley has a combined 2.05 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and a very high 14.4 K/9.
In his last start Tuesday against Scranton/Wilkes Barre (the Yankees Triple-A affiliate), Turley put up a dominant performance. In 6 scoreless innings, he struck out 15 batters, allowing four hits and two walks. Among his strikeout victims were Gleyber Torres (2 Ks) and Clint Frazier (3 Ks), the Yankees? top two prospects. MLB.com rates Torres and Frazier as the No. 3 and No. 24 prospects in baseball, respectively.
