TRIVIA:

A) Ty Detmer
B) Jim McMahon
C) David Klingler
D) Andre Ware

* ANSWER AT BOTTOM

MLB:

YANKEES 92-64 @ RED SOX 92-64
FOX @ 1:20 PM ET

Wow, look at the calendar and the records. This is why these two teams make up the most exciting rivalry in baseball. How about the collection of big bats in the lineups for these two? The Red Sox feature sluggers David ?Big Papi? Ortiz (46 HR, 146 RBI, .295) and Manny Ramirez (41 HR, 136 RBI, .289), while the Yanks counter with Alex Rodriguez (46 HR, 127 RBI, .320) and Gary Sheffield (33 HR, 120 RBI, .293).

NCAA:

MICHIGAN (2-2) @ No. 11 MICH ST. (4-0) -5 ?, 56 ?
ABC @ 12:00PM ET

After a terrible start, Michigan is unranked for the first time since 1998. The Wolverines started off this season ranked #4 and moved as high as #3 before falling to Notre Dame 17-10 at home and suffering a heartbreaking loss to Wisconsin last week. QB Chad Henne will have to be sharp because Michigan State?s Drew Stanton is red-hot right now. Stanton shared Big-10 player of the week honors after setting a school record with 5 TD passes while leading the Spartans to 705 yards of total offense.

No. 5 FLORIDA (4-0) -3 ?, 48 @ No. 15 ALABAMA (4-0)
CBS @ 3:30 PM ET

New head coach Urban Meyer has the Gators off to a 4-0 start and QB Chris Leak is a Heisman favorite right now with a 71.1 QB rating, 1,037 passing yards, nine touchdowns and zero interceptions in four games! The Crimson Tide is off to their best start since 1996, after posting a 24-13 victory over Arkansas last week. QB Brodie Coyle was 13-27 for 173 yards and two touchdowns, and RB Kenneth Darby impressed by scoring two touchdowns and piling up 98 rushing yards.

No. 1 USC (3-0) -16, 72 @ No. 14 ARIZONA ST. (3-1)
ABC @ 3:30 PM ET

USC leads the nation in scoring (59.3 ppg), rank second in total offense (615.7 ypg), and easily disposed of their first true test of the season last week by pounding #24 Oregon, 45-13 on the road. QB Matt Leinart has ten touchdown passes in only 87 attempts! Arizona State QB Sam Keller can light it up too and has the Sun Devils averaging 591.8 yards per game and 47 points a game. The Sun Devils may have the only formula to beat the Trojans?. beat them in a high-scoring game!

No. 13 NOTRE DAME (3-1) @ No. 22 PURDUE (2-1) -3 ?, 57
ESPN @ 7:45 PM ET

Charlie Weis has been a miracle-worker so far at Notre Dame. The Irish are ranked #13 in the nation and are looking at their fourth road game in the first five weeks! Their only loss was a 44-41 overtime setback to undefeated Michigan Sate. Purdue will be looking for payback after losing a heartbreaker to #18 Minnesota in double overtime last Saturday.

NFL:

CHARGERS @ PATRIOTS -4 ?, 47 ?
CBS @ 1:00 PM ET

Marty Schottenheimer is 6-1 against New England, and Drew Brees has completed more than 65% of his passes this season to go with seven touchdowns and only two interceptions. Plus LaDanian Tomlinson is averaging 125.5 yards from scrimmage each game. Will that be enough to counteract the amazing 25-3 record and 21 wins in a row at Gillette Stadium posted by the Pats? The trio of QB Tom Brady, RB Corey Dillon and WR Troy Brown is enough to make any defensive coordinator shiver.

EAGLES @ CHIEFS -1 ?, 45
FOX @ 4:15 PM ET

Strange to see the Eagles as underdogs but if any team could knock off the high-flying Chiefs, the Eagles could. Under head coach Andy Reid they are 32-17 (.653) in road games (that?s tops among NFL coaches). I almost forgot? Donovan McNabb and Terrell Owens play for the Eagles and you might want to keep an eye on them! Dick Vermeil will be hosting his old team, but his new team is the real story. After getting crushed by Denver at Mile High on Monday night, Trent Green, Priest Holmes and the revamped defense will look to make a signature game out of this one.

MONDAY:

PACKERS @ PANTHERS -7 ?, 43
ABC @ 9:05 PM ET

The Packers are 0-3 and have already lost two games at Lambeau Field. Brett Favre is finally looking his age, Ahman Green can?t hold onto the football, the offensive line is in shambles and they lost Javon Walker for the season. My instincts tell me Carolina could get a taste of the sleeping giant on national television. Panthers QB Jake Delhomme is playing well and lit it up with Steve Smith (11 rec, 170 yards, and 3TD?s) last week. RB Stephen Davis is a stud and will eat up lots of clock if the Panthers get an early lead.

IN THE NEWS:

From The New York Daily News, September 27, 2005

Waif-in-distress Kate Moss is still a wanted woman after all.

The 31-year-old supermodel - stripped of millions of dollars in contracts with Chanel, Burberry and H&M after a British tab published pictures of her allegedly hoovering lines of cocaine - has been offered a five-year, $5 million spokesmodel contract with online gaming site Nine.com.

"We believe in giving people who have been affected by both seen and unforeseen circumstances a second chance," Nine. com spokesman Jack Abrams told Lowdown. "Our demographic clientele is males, ages 21 to 45. We did a real quick focus group with some of our customers to see if they'd be offended in any way, and the response was an overwhelming, 'Yes, please, get Kate Moss as your spokesperson.'"

Of course, there are strings attached. According to the lucrative proposal, which was faxed last week to Moss' agent, Sarah Doukas, at Storm Models in London, Moss would be required to enter a program at a residential drug rehab center and, upon completion, travel to the Costa Rica headquarters of Nine.com for a closely monitored two-month "corporate retreat."

Hardly a friendly environment for Moss' on-again, off-again drug-user boyfriend, Pete Doherty. Moss would also have to participate in a Nine.com-sponsored anti-drug campaign aimed at high-school and college students.

And if she should relapse?

"Well, then the contract would be terminated immediately. Send her on her way, and wish her the best," said Abrams.

Reps for Moss did not respond to detailed messages yesterday.
