Valpo +8 over Iowa
Just a small play tonite but Valpo has made it to the dance 7 straight times. They lost by 2 pts to make it 8.Papa Drew retired and the baton was passed to his son Scott.Don't follow Valpo at all but every yr they seem to play Notre Dame in a squeaker.Same this yr with a 2 pt loss.
Valpo does have a stud a center in 6'11 Grafs. He has a shot in the NBA.Gomes at 6'9 is solid.A pretty balanced team that has won 20 games. They did lose to some decent teams by pretty bad scores but they did beat Central Mich with Kaman,No Illi,Charlotte, and a 2 pt loss to ND.
Iowa has been a major disapointment.Lay they they started out 11-3 and faded and this yr they were so up and down. They have a 6'11 player in Reiner and that should be a good post matchup.
Their weakness is outside shooting esp. from the 3 where they shoot 28%.Valpo plays their matchup zone. And if Iowa dumps it inside Valpo has Grafs.
Small play grabbing 8 pts.Alford says he's happy to be in the NIT's.Esp after getting knocked out by Ohio St in their 1st B-10 game.
Of course the B-10 schedule,Iowa playing at home are all factors against Valpo.
I just think Valpo is happy to be still playing. And Iowa pretends to be happy.Last 2 times Iowa was in NIT with opening home game was '97 and 2001.They lost both to LSU and Georgia.

I know the NIT's are the "sophomore hop" compared to the "Senior Prom" but lets not forget Memphis and the Cuse played in the finals lyr.

Real small play tonite on Valpo.
Will be back later to comment on NCAA's.

Iowa -7'.....small play.

Just something for the action, but I think Valpo + is a little bit of sentimental public perception from a coupla' years ago.
