Guys do not forget about the NIT here. MOTIVATION is a HUGE issue here. I have made good money in the past betting against bubble teams after their bubble burst. Some big moneyline dogs. Please read the local papers and check for motivation for teams like

SMU
St. Johns
Cal
Minnesota
Southern MIss
La tech

Some opportunities will arise.

Very true, Musca. Let me just add this. I don't think Minnesota will lay down. I don;t think they are that shocked not to make the Big Dance. Their home court at The Barn I believe will get therm to MSG. And I am not a Gopher fan. Looking forward to seeing the lines to see if there is any value, but I don't believe they don't want to be there. Good luck in the tourney.........:toast:

Do not disagree...

Do not disagree...

However, always best to read the newspapers and try to get a feel for whats going on. I would not be suprised by anything.

I feel SMU will lay an egg. They were publicly embarassed- The media was at the school there was a big pep rally and the Dallas Morning News just has about 8 articles on out SMOOO got SCREWED! Now UCI comes to town.... Will be interesting to see...

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles now await word from the NCAA Selection Committee as to whether or not they?ll advance to the Big Dance, or return to the National Invitation Tournament.

Tyndall said Friday he will lobby for his team to score an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament.

?Absolutely,? he said. ?No doubt we should be in the NCAA Tournament this year. No doubt about it.?

WISCONSIN-GREEN BAY: NCAA selection committee chair Ron Wellman called the decision to leave Wisconsin-Green Bay out of the bracket a very difficult one. That's not going to make the Phoenix feel any better after winning the Horizon League title and failing to get a bid. Wisconsin-Green Bay finished the season 24-6, but a loss to fifth-seeded Milwaukee in the conference tournament title game apparently killed its chances. Phoenix coach Brian Wardle hoped the selection committee would consider the impact injuries to Keifer Sykes and Alec Brown had in the loss to Milwaukee, but it did no good.

USM has been one of the more outspoken teams/coaches about getting into the dance. I am waiting on tomorrows newspapers so i can see what is being said in Hattiesburg.

ARKANSAS: Two image-busting losses killed the Razorbacks. Still on the bubble, Arkansas closed out the regular season with a 25-point loss to Alabama and opened the SEC tournament by bowing out to South Carolina. That offset all the good the Razorbacks did in the weeks before, when they won six straight. Arkansas was hoping it first postseason appearance since 2008 would be in the NCAA tournament, but now it's headed to the NIT to face Indiana State.

Arkansas Is a 3-Seed in NIT; Will Host Indiana State at Bud Walton Arena

Arkansas will make a post-season appearance in college basketball for the first time since 2008.

The Hogs will host in Bud Walton Arena, and have a chance to host another couple of games if the bracket breaks the right way. If the Razorbacks beat the Sycamores, the Hogs will either travel to Berkeley to take on Cal or host Utah Valley.

If you're interested, Arkansas already beat two of the 1-seeds in SMU and Minnesota.
This is the Razorbacks' first appearance in the NIT since 1997 when they made the Final Four in New York City.

I think SMU will have a tough time getting up for anyone right now? team is devastated, but oddsmakers know it as well. Guessing -7 vs UC-Irvine and SMU could roll with only 1 or 2 home losses ATS the spread this year (think 2)

Other than SMU, how can these other teams really be upset? They all had their chances and F'd up on more than a few occasions. SEC was horrid and Arkansas lost twice to Misery. If any team should be pissed, it's Georgia going 12-6 in SEC plus beating Misery twice. So Ole Miss didn't even make NIT? now, that is a surprise!

Heard an Interview this morning

Heard an Interview this morning

With Larry Brown- He said said very clearly; I know the 2 seniors will be able to get up for this but I do not know about the rest of the kids. He said it a few times. He sounded like someone sounds when they were just blindsinded by a Dear John letter. It was bad. He said he felt he let down the seniors, the team, the fans it was awful. I want to wait and see what practice notes are for today and tomorrow but wow I would be surprised if SMU showed up.

I heard the same interview with Brown.

I'm going to take the contrarian view on this. Pretty much the consensus that they are let down, will lack motivation etc.

My view is that the two senior leaders will get through to the other players and they'll be motivated to send the seniors out with a trip to NY.

Should be interesting to see it it play out.

Musca...I remember following a lot of your stuff quite a while ago...nice to have you back. How long has it been since you posted regularly?

Although it is the CIT tourney some of the same mental and motivational aspects come into play. Akron goes to Fort Wayne to take on IPFW. Here is a little clip with quotes from Akron's coach. I can't imagine the Zips being overly thrilled to find themselves in Fort Wayne after blowing an 18 point lead and losing in OT to eventual champ W Mich in the MAC semis

?I think they?re going to be a little hungrier than we are,? Dambrot said by phone Sunday night. ?That?s going to be the challenge for us.

?Once you play in the NCAA Tournament, you don?t want to play in anything else. That?s the biggest challenge for us. But that?s what you have to do. We have to go to their place, which will be more challenging. It?ll be a tough game. It?s going to be tough emotionally, there?s no doubt.?

With any kind of reasonable line, I'll be on IPFW Weds night

I am just now starting to dabble again in sports gambling. I think it was 1999-2002 or so when i was a regular poster at various chat boards. Life took over and has been very good. So, now I have been able to slow things down a bit, I have hired a good team around me and I was able to take some time and wager on some ball this year. I remember you and a few others. Its fun and a chance to just kill some time.

Did you by chance hear the Nic Russel interview that occurred on ESPN Dallas later in the day today? He talked about the roller coaster of emotions. Started as Fear, then Shock, Then Pain and then Anger... or something like that. He kept talking about how he felt like they let the fans down and let SMU down. It was interesting. You should try to find the interview.

No bad luck
