As I have said before . . . no one and I mean NO ONE of significance is calling LSU the champ. You are ONLY co-champ because the coaches HAD to vote for LSU. Now, it's just not one poll calling USC champs over LSU. In the numerous non-coerced polls, USC is a unanimous NUMBER ONE!

Funny how USC was #1 in the Coaches Poll before the Sugar Bowl then "mysteriously" dropped after the game. We all know the reason but again since when has a #1 team beat a #4 team and drop to #2 ever? It has NEVER happened.

I seem to think the BCS poll has somewhat of "a say" here, but hey, maybe it is just me and USC fans aren't aware they participated in a Bowl Championship Series (BCS) bowl game in Pasadena. Perhaps USC fans have suceeded from the BCS Union? Perhaps USC fans weren't aware they were ever a part of the BCS the entire season?

USC can claim part of the national title, but even then it's totally weak. They were not in New Orleans - PERIOD. They didn't play the #1 or #2 team. They got a home game against #4 and call it a national title. I'll tell you what won USC half of the national title ---- >>> THE MEDIA and Oklahoma losing its conference title game.

It's perfectly fine to be a HOMER, but jeez, is USC part of the BCS??????

If they are (and they were last time I checked) then just be happy OU lost the conference game because otherwise you would have had no shot at a split. Simply accept that you got a backdoor split into the national championship and be happy.... but dont sit here and tout your team as better than the team that actually won the national championship per the rules. And let's face it, LSU should have been ranked #1 instead of USC back when Okie lost to KSU in the AP poll. Beating Georgia in Atlanta and twice in a season combined with all the SEC conference games is way more impressive than anything USC did the entire year. USC got totally lucky to backdoor their way into their "national championship."

Here's a thought, Why don't we just put this whole thing to rest by saying congratulations to both USC ( I listed them first just to make you happy) and LSU for their fantastic seasons.

Yea man......I think we all saw that USC is a great team in the Rose Bowl. They probably should have gotten into the big game. They won the AP National Championship and many people believe they are the best in the nation. But you taking away what LSU has done this year is ignorant on your part. That is one hell of a team and defense and a hell of a coach.

Take your split and be happy.......USC once again got the easy way out on scheduling......they didnt even have to play under the pressure of the Nokia Sugar Bowl to win thier National Championship. They played the 4th rated team, and not the Number 1 rated team (although seems to be a tad overrated) So be happy with what you had......you didnt have to face LSU, and I am not quite sure they could have beaten them. Would have been a great game......but surely no guarantee.

Why dont you shut up and acknowledge the team the did in fact win the National Championship. That team was LSU, not USC. Everyone knew what the rules were going into the season. The fact is that USC did not do enough to get to the National Championship game. Maybe they should have acted like a champion when they played Cal??? other BIG 12 teams, who weren't really that strong!

Scott just can't handle the truth. I don't care what the media says as they are usually biased & clueless about alot of things. This is the same media that was calling OU invincible just a few months ago & bringing them up as one of the best teams ever so you are just looking stupid trying to use them to win a debate.

The Pac 10 is one of the conferences that make up the BCS & they like the other major conferences agreed that the national title would be decided by the winner of the Sugar Bowl in a matchup that will be determined by who is #1 & #2 in the BCS Standings. The standings were calculated & we had a matchup of 1 vs 2 & sorry but USC wasn't apart of it.

Some of you just can't accept that & want to latch onto anything to win a debate & it is sad. Just a few months ago, you claimed there was NO WAY LSU could pass USC & how USC would be one of the participants for the national title. You made no mention of caring about an AP title.

Once it seemed that USC might get knocked out, & the media brought up the possibility of an AP title for USC, all of a sudden you were all gung ho about the AP & screw the BCS. Everyone who has browsed this forum will know what I'm saying about you in this case is the truth. EVERY time someone counters your propaganda, you switch to a new defense.

There is nothing wrong with being an outspoken supporter of your team but there is a problem when you refuse to be unbiased about situations.

LSU is not my favorite team by a longshot. I'm just bringing up facts about the current situation & bringing an unbiased point of view to the table. I never said USC wasn't a good team as they are. All I'm saying is, they didn't play in the national title game that was agreed on by all the schools in the major conferences. Did they deserve to be there, they might have but the fact is they didn't & there is nothing you can do to change that.

Yes, they won an AP national title but realistically speaking, no team aims to win the AP title. They aim to win the BCS National Title & that is a fact. While they can claim to have won a title since they did & no one is taking it away from them, remember you can't possibly have a national title game with only one of the teams having a shot at winning. The correct way to say it is they won the AP National Title by winning The Rose Bowl.

These are the facts so learn to live with it.

I will end this by congratulating both LSU & USC on winning titles as they both had mighty impressive years.

Great point made last night by some guy on Fox Sports. The AP poll is all about when you lose. If USC had lost their game later in the season than LSU and/or Oklahoma, more than likely LSU would have been ranked #1 and Oklahoma ranked #2 in the AP poll. Turns out their loss was the earliest in the season of the three teams, so they wind-up ranked #1. If they had lost their one game to say, Oregon St, no way would they be ranked #1 in the AP poll. Extremely arbitrary system and doesn't mean that much at all.

I wasn't going to address anymore about the USC & LSU but this takes the cake. I ask 1 simple question last night about playing football and I get smacked around like I did something wrong.

Most of you have to agree that this is getting old.

I fed to the fish when I entertained his topics long enough and have come to the conclusion that Scott is always right and no matter what you say he will have an argument that USC should be #1.

I think Coaches know talent better that anybody correct? Well why did the Coaches poll have LSU as #1? They all must be dumb and blind. Even watching the Games between USC and Mich and LSU and OU they still said LSU is Number one.

i think that both teams were the best i saw this year....the bcs is a joke...the lsu defense vs the usc offense would be a dream match up....

maybe the bcs will find some way to have one more game if needed next year...

it`s really ashamed that the bcs had no way of knowing that oklahoma was a straw man....

Scott...you cannot post this kind of message and not be aware of what LSU has done this season.

1). The win the SEC Championship (the strongest conference in football...can't argure that following our showing in the bowl games) by destroying a very good GA team
2). They dominate an Oklahoma team that had been coveted as unbeatable most of the seaon and are awarded the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP trophy.

I dont know if you caught the game but every 5 seconds they were calling it the "National Championship game"...and everytime they showed the two teams helmets they had a #1 vs #2 by them.

In your final home game, A BCS GAME, USC played the number 4 team...in this day and age, no NATIONAL CHAMPION will play the number 4 team in the country in their last game.

As Hoops said, good thing USC lost early in the season. If they hadnt then they would not be #1 in the AP.

But lets face it: the only reason you have to start this thread is because USC did not win the national championship this year. The AP makes them "co champions". But in reality, the only team that knows they are the national champions is LSU. USC just needs to keep repeating to themselves "WE ARE NATIONAL CHAMPS" over and over again for a few days...AFTER A FEW WEEKS THEY MAY START BELIEVING IT...good luck...

I am being fair. LSU did really win the national championship & ended the season #1. All the schools within the major conferences agreed on the BCS & how it would determine who would play for the national title in the title game & the winner would be the official champion. I'm just stating what is fact.

This is a college football message board. I posted what other
people in the college football media said. I never took anything away from LSU, and i cannot count the number of times i have congratulated LSU on their BCS National Championship and complimented their defense. I found all the stuff i posted very interesting. I did not make any of this up, and its very objective. So if you do not like it, do not read it. Simple is that. College football is over, and their is big controversy over who won the NC. So why not post something about it? There are no more picks to be posted. All my posts have been done maturely and have been well written. SO if you are easily offended, do not read my posts. Simple as that. As always, i could care less if you disagree with me or dislike me. As long as I treat you with the respect you deserve and I recieve the same respect back.
