Never really bet a lot of bases!On the surface it seems simple enough,Just pick the winner.I know you should consider value but good value on aloser is a loser just the same.What I really was wondering about all of you good cappers is how you get to your values?I know one should consider pitching(hot,cold,high & low era etc.),teams hitting(good & bad,vs left or right),weather etc.I track a few pitcher value ratings,saw in one of Nolan's post a wolverton quote,Fletch talked about a newsletter Ray put him on.Just picking the brains of you fellas I've really came to respect.If you have time or feel up to it(Fletch

give me about a week, after talking with jeri,ray and parents,and just how i feel ,came up with being on way to many and to strong of narcs,i stopped them last night so it is going to take me a few days probley a week been on them for 20 some days,now will have to fight through the withdraw ant thoughts or hints would be nice shaking like a leaf and very cloudy but just couldnot pop one more pill inless it is asprin for the pain.

HAND, lot of us i'm sure have our own methods we've used over the years and me for one if something is not working i look into it and try to find out whats missing.
i like to use the pitcher theory of i don't believe a pitcher who has 3 strong outings will have another one. i will either play the game or use it for a total. on the other hand its the same if a good pitcher has 3 bad outings i expect him to come back and pitch well his next outing. for example i liked tampa bay tonite,both burnett and sturtze have been poor in there last 3 outings and w/tampa a big underdog why not take a chance on them especially w/florida on a losing streak and not playing well at all.
i also like to see if a team is not hitting well then the next game out there bats come alive, then i might use them in the next game if other theorys work. in handicapping there really is a lot of work but if you study a system on your own and play with it for awhile you'll see how you'll do in the long run. if it fails try something else. remember you alway's have to give things time. Mize,seems you tend to lean a little contrarian.I do that to a degree with power ratings in football & baskets.It seems when the lines are off the ratings there is a reason.I never would have thought it would be easier to find value in a point spread than to just pick a winner in bases.Of course if a starting QB got pulled with the game tied at the end of the 3rd Qtr,it would be tougher to pick
