nomar out of boston/yanks game tonight.....i know oliver has good numbers vs. the yanks...but different ballpark...different results....giambi has been struggling so far ...so the proper protocol for this series between these teams is for giambi to have a big weekend...just the way it is when the sox play the yanks ...yanks all weekend..and i like the over tonight...cooz

Listening to the Sox game on the radio last night I heard that the Red Sox will be resting players during this Yankee series. I think they said that only two starters would play the whole series.
This has me confused. Why would you rest your best players during a series with the team that appears the team to beat?

Are you sure tonight is the night Nomar sits out..this is the last I saw from the herald...

With the Red Sox in the midst of a stretch during
which they play on nine consecutive days, Little
indicated that Garciaparra would likely be given a day
off this weekend. Such a decision normally would be
received without a second thought, but there is a
variable that might prompt a raised eyebrow or two.

The New York Yankees will be in town for a four-game
series beginning tomorrow.

``Every game we play is important whether it's against
Kansas City, New York or Toronto, but Nomar's health
is more important than anything else,'' Little said
before the Sox dropped a 6-2 decision to the Kansas
City Royals at Fenway Park last night.

``We've got (games) nine days in a row and Nomar's not
going to play all nine games,'' Little added. ``We'll
probably split the games with one day off for him
somewhere, (tomorrow) or Saturday. He's not going to
be in there for nine straight.''

I was not sure if they were going to rest him tonight or tomorrow..since you were a local I was hoping that you had confirmed this...thanks

JT....from the boston globe..." nomar garciaparra will sit out tonight (with sanchez starting at shortstop) and varitek will get rest tonight or tomorrow. The only two players who appear certain to start every game in their regular positions are Damon and Nixon. Ramirez will likely DH at leats one of the four games." so that is both local papers stating Nomar will be out. things could change obviously but i can only tell ya what i know right now....if i hear of any changes i will posy it...cooz

This is very strange. We're less than 2 weeks into the season and teams tend to have more off days in April than in any other month. If the Yankees sweep the Bosox, Boston fans will rightfully be asking for Little's head.
