The only way Auburn jumps Okie is for Okie to loss outright as Auburn is locked into the three slot regardless of what they do because the computer polls will not help them unless Okie or USC losses outright.

Iowa Child,

Big Husker fan myself, but I think he would fare better at Indiana there would be less pressure and he would not be recruiting top 100 players like he was trying to at Nebraska. I cannot recall anyone that has been able to recruit at Ind since Lee Corso and this would also give the Hoosiers a big name to market.

Good point, as long as their goals aren't to win the big 10 championship someday. By hiring someone like that, they are admitting that they won't be able to be a team to compete for Big 10 titles down the road.

And of course if Chow goes you also probably lose your prize recruit in Sanchez. He was quite clear that his primary reason for picking USC over texas was Chow.

A quote from the OC Register regarding Sanchez

"One concern at USC has been how recruits would react if Chow left, but Mission Viejo quarterback Mark Sanchez said his commitment to USC would not change if Chow took another job.

He said part of the reason was quarterbacks coach Carl Smith, who is considered a candidate for the coordinator's job if Chow left, along with wide receivers coach Lane Kiffin and former USC quarterbacks coach Steve Sarkisian.

"USC is still USC," Sanchez said. "And if he does leave, they still have Coach (Pete) Carroll and Coach Smith there. If they did have to bring somebody in, you know it's going to be a big-name coach.

"So, no, I'm still going to 'SC." "

chow is going nowhere period... he is going to get a substantial raise and be the highest paid oc in the history of ncaa football

Chow currently is the highest paid OC in college football. He makes a min. $500,00 but many say its closer to $750,000. He also got help buying a house. That is what I found odd if he went to Stanford. He might be getting paid less. Guess Chow going to Stanford is not so likely anymore. If Chow does not leave USC this year, he never will IMO. He shouldn't anyways. How would you like to get paid a head coach type salary being just an OC? Chow also does not recruit hard at USC. He has it easy at USC with all those athletes Carroll + staff recruits for him.

Personally, I think Chow has a LOT more to do with USC's recent success than Carroll. Just look at Carroll's record without Chow. (college and NFL)

USC fans better hope this isn't true.

No way. Carroll is the main reason USC has all that telent. NOT CHOW! Carroll is the DC for USC and the defense has always been great at USC. Remember, Carroll had #1 defenses in the NFL when he was a DC. Carroll also has a say in the USC offense. It is not 100% run by Norm Chow.

This year USC has been winning with defense, NOT offense.

Sorry, but your opinion is WAY off base.

BTW, Carroll always had Chow at USC with him. FYI, in Chows first year at USC, his offense ranked dead last in the Pac 10. Chow is the best OC in the business, but he is just a small part why USC is where they are. Carroll is the main reason + the rest of the "other" coaching staff.

honolulu, Hi, USA
Shhhhhhhhh! It's a done deal - Chow will be the new Stanford coach ($1+m, 5 yr deal). No publicity because he will coach thru Orange Bowl. M.Montgomery will be new OC. Also, wouldn't surprise me if Dan Hawkins becomes ND's new coach.
