--What is greater fear--Iran or NK trying to slip missle thru our defence or giving nuke to terrorist to detonate here?
I think the latter. I will be VERY disappointed in this admin if they bow to threats and offer aid to either of these countries in exchange for "promise'

on China and NK--been getting lots of insight from some pretty savvy Chinese U.S. citizens on issue. China's dilema with NK bout as bad as ours. They do not care for NK and are currently caught in catch22 of having to feed and support NK or having entire pro western country on their door step. They can not reason with NK any more than anyone else.
China has implemented many western ways in past decade--not much left to doubt when you see a country split in two--one having flourishing under western culture and the other destitude under communism the past 40 years.

Never thought about it from that perspective.

That is very true. China does not want Americanism that close to them. They do not want their people getting any ideas.

That used to be true Axle --but seriously--things are changing for the better there--recent report on student riots--

Chinese Students Riot Over Diploma Changes
Jun 19 3:04 PM US/Eastern

By CHRISTOPHER BODEEN
Associated Press Writer

SHANGHAI, China

College students in central China smashed offices and set fires in a riot sparked by administrative changes that made their diplomas less prestigious, students and school administrators said Monday.

Photos of the weekend riots posted on the Internet showed fires set in debris-strewn school courtyards and glass smashed in administrative offices, shops, cars and a bank.

Students said police with water cannons had moved onto the campus of Shengda Economics, Trade and Management College in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province. It was unclear if there were any clashes.

There was no mention of the apparent riots in the country's state- controlled media. Campus unrest is treated with extreme sensitivity in China, where 1989 student pro-democracy protests led to the bloody military crackdown in Beijing's Tiananmen Square.

Zhengzhou police and local government and education officials said they had no details of the weekend protests or could not comment without permission from Communist Party officials.

However, an official with the school's Communist Party committee confirmed the riots and said talks with students stalled Monday because their demands were unclear.

"The problem is the students aren't being coherent. We don't really know what they want," the official said by telephone. He refused to give his name.

The Zhengzhou riots appeared to reflect the massive pressure Chinese students face in an increasingly competitive job market.

Many families go into massive debt to send children to a university, and a huge expansion in higher education has led to white-hot competition for jobs, making a degree's prestige ever more important.

Students said they entered Shengda, a private college, after recruiters promised they would get diplomas from the better-known Zhengzhou University, which Shengda is affiliated with.

However, while students graduating this year will receive Zhengzhou degrees, those graduating next year will only receive Shengda degrees, said students who e-mailed The Associated Press and posted comments on an online school bulletin board that was later shut down.

"We've been cheated out of three years," said one posting, signed Yvonne, on the online education blog http://www.3ec.cn/ .

Parents, many of them poor farmers, apparently had been willing to pay Shengda's relatively high $1,250 annual tuition because they believed their children would receive Zhengzhou University degrees.

DTB You Really think China if pushed will not do what ever it want's with it's people. We must remember behind the closed doors. Those in power in China will do what ever to keep things the same and stay in power. Much the same those in N Korea will.

On economics --I think they are becoming more westernized out of necessity and seeing results elsewhere.

On controling their people--they are becoming more lenient--mostly because the people are giving them less choice in matter.

China's biggest faults in my view is still their issues with peoples rights--and contol of media--however their stance on many economical issues like taxation I favor--especially over our system.

i believe that american firms like google and yahoo have caved to chinese demands to censor and monitor internet access....

they are turning over names of so called subversives.....for access to the chinese computer market...

i guess democratic values go out the window...when the almighty buck is an issue...

If North Korea launchs a test missle, the US should respond by sending one of these without a warhead , and land it in the middle of their main city.

Nothing more would need to be said when they see this thing come wizzing in .

And then when N Korea starts crying for their mamas, we just say, we said no testing bitchs.

And we mean it.

why do you always try to simplify very complex issues.

If a president has to worry about one thing, its that there are over 1,000 things he could be worrying about. Take you pick.

If you were sitting right next to Bush tommorrow.

What would you say to him about Iran and N Korea ?

What would be your advise to him ?

Or do you just like to complain about the status quo.

Just wondering if you can think beyond the bridge of your nose.

To be honest, if I was that nut that runs N Korea , I would send the missile as close to the California coast as I could and land it in the ocean.

Now that would take some crazy sacks.

I mean whats the US going to do ?

Come on its a test.

Dont get your panties all bunched up in a wad.

they dont have a warhead. Let them have some fun.

I guess they could miss and land the missile in a fault in the San Fernando valley and cause a earthquake and , California could fall into the ocean.

If they did that, America would be pissed.

No more california. I bet the smog would improve immediately.
Traffic would grind to a halt.

Hmmmmm

Does anyone think NK has technology to hit tarket in U.S.---and if they did what would be chances of it getting through--and what would reprucussions be?
The threat they pose is selling them to terrorist--where they can deny responsibilty.
--and DJV there have been offers for talks during entire admin---Don't blame NK for stalling --their waiting for another election and instant replay of prior admin.Might add China probably hoping for same as they are getting tired of having to support them by themselves.
Maybe you or the Dems have better plan you like to share with us that has escaped us?
