Carl, I'm sure they'd love to have you. I can picture in my minds eye the Long Beach High School Marching Band at LA Int'l playing "Hail To The Chief" as you get off the plane. Hollywood would have the airport flooded with talent scouts. Shouts of "He's here! I see him! "That's Carl!, Carl, over here!! would be heard everywhere. What a moment! I don't think you'd be remembered as an ordinary visitor. LA would never be the same.
Keep going north on the 5 thru the grapevine. I once made the mistake of driving it to the bay area to visit my brother instead of the 101. Big mistake. Miles and miles of NOTHING. Made the 40 from Barstow to Needles seem exciting.
