I love my North Texas.Mean Joe Green,Pat Boone,Bill Moyers,Abner Hayes,Dr Phil,Don Henley,Phyliss George,my favorite NY Giant,Spider Lockhart, and my wife who I met in front of Kerr Hall dorm in the early 70's,all went to North Texas... but......I love Ark St today..
NT is last in the nation in defense in 4 catogories,2nd to last in the other 3.Last week they played a weak off. team in Mid Tenn.We lost 52-13.We give up 490 yds per game.FAU scores 46 pts,Troy 44,FIU 44,Rice 77,Lsu 41,Tulsa 56,and KSU 45.We won one game vs WKU who just began D-1 football and beat them 51-40.New coach Dodge came in with a spread offense and it hasn't worked.We allow an avg of 48 pts a game on defense.
On senior day today in comes Ark St.having a so-so year but when you play in the Sun Conf anything can happen. Even tough Ark St is 1-4 away from home if they win there next two games they will go to the Independence bowl. They would be tied with other teams but they win the tie-breaker.So this game is so big for Ark.
Now Ark St does has some offense.They rank 40th in the country in total yds avg 406.Passing 74th avg 200 yds.They are 17th in rushing yds.Now it doesn't take a lot to figure out why there record is just a game over .500. There defense sucks..But that doesn't mean a lot when NT's offense is bad.
Ark's Qb Leonard can throw and run.Arnold there Rb is just shy of 1,000 yds.They have another guy with 629 yds.Think they might try to get him over a 1,000 yds today.
Ark uses the clock,doesn't turn the ball over,protects there qb and one of the most amazing facts to find..Ark St has had 16 players to score a TD this yr.That ranks 3rd in the nation.Holy Cow...16 players...NT can't stop 2 players...enough...said...
I have taken my alma mater to the bank all year.This is the last game and ark has everything to play for.NT is saying goodbye to seniors who leave with a 8-38 career record.
