Ok St -6 over North Texas ****
I think a lot of people saw the line and thought..that seems pretty low but there is a reason..Ok St doesn't play any non-cong games on the road...pad those wins..and were 0-8 on the rd in B-12 games last season..NT was 13-3 at home and surprised everyone and won the Sun belt..then went on to give Memphis fits at the big "dance'. But NT lost its 3 top gds who could all hit from row 3.Davis,watson,etc...tonite they start 2 freshman..White and Thompson..On there front line they return both Wooden and Williams who both are pre-season Sun 1st team players...they play a 3 gd attack and that will hurt them.NT is not known for its discipline play or defense...they are athletic though..OSU has one of the top frosh in the nation in 6'6 Anderson..Eaton and Muonego are pretty solid gds with Harris.Dove who started lyr at 6'9 is a defensive player...Throw in 6'10 Cooper and the cowboys have a lot of depth..
Sutton will pressure and trap esp the real "green" gds that aren't so mean.NT's one advantage is down low but Dove really can neutralize that.OSU is just as athletic,play better defense,bigger,and has to many 6'5,6'6 slashers or fds.Anderson with NT's defense could have 25-30 pts tonite.High scoring but Cowboys get a rare rd win and win by 10-15 pts.Super Pit will be packed/... but again the seats are not on the floor and you loose some home cooking...cross the street over to the Mens Gym which holds 4,400 and NT wins this by 20.Thats a home advantage...and in the late 60's Drake and louisville came to town ranked and were beaten by 15 and 18..ahh those were the days...
URI -6 over Brown ****
I love this URI team...think they can win the A-10. Last yr predicted 11th they made it to the finals..everyone is back...This is some talented team.Baron has done such a great job here..and his son is one of the top 3 pt shooters in the nation.Bitte can pass and shoot and one of the top defensive gds.Solid gds but they have 4 big time fowards..Daniels at 6'8 from my area is a stud.Mbang,Seawright,Cothran and Ulmer are tough...what a rotation..and Mbang can stick it from the 3.
Brown has Huffman and McAndrew at the gds.Huff can shoot and 6'9 MacDoanld inside..They run the Princeton offense which will give URI problems..with all the backdoor screens,etc..think URI will have trouble in the begining but they are to athletic and don't think brown defense can stop them.esp if baron bombs them from 25 feet out.
