Hudson Valley area.....NY
Went to post this in a North Mean Green Denton newspaper but didn't have a password or account so didn't want to waste all this. The headlines read " Two North Texas football players arrested for shop lifting".They walked out of Wall Mart carrying two flat screen TV's..one player is the starting linebacker...No one knows what the punishment is but both have been suspended.Sig one of the players tweeted the other day" thanks for the 2nd chance".So I guess he was told he's not being kicked off. Rumors are that they won't miss any games.NT lost all their linebackers and are so thin at that position..of course that should have no baring...I was responding to someone in the newspapers but couldn't post it..anyway thought I would put it in here...

Think these two knuckle heads should be suspended for a game or two.Not asking for a death penalty unless they have been on thin ice before.As a Coach, Athletic Dir. and High School Principal for the past 38 years you want to be fair.I know HS is different then college and all schools have their own code of conducts.You want to punish and be fair at the same time.Each school has its own rules.At Florida St or Miami this could be a slap on the wrist.{ just using those schools as an example}
We don't know all the details of the incident but you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure this out.At my HS your season is over.I had two star basketball players suspended for the season for making bad choices. Both were 17 years old and lost one of them just before the NY State basketball final 4.One of them learned from his mistake and is a NYC fireman. The other went to UMass on a basketball scholarship and his junior year got into trouble again.
Sed, I guess through his tweet is getting another chance.Hope he understands what he did.Hope he can become a better person. The only thing I will say is that after being a building principal for 15 years when you get caught its not the 1st time.No one has ever won the Mega Million Lottery playing the 1st time.No one has ever been given a ticket speeding for the 1st time or have rolled through a stop sign and been ticketed. No one has ever been caught skipping school, leaving early, etc the 1st time without getting caught.I have 4 kids and when ever they did something wrong believe me they had done it in the past.
No one has ever walked out of a Wall Mart shop lifting for the 1st time and been caught.Maybe their might be an exception to that. Sid, I hope you and your partner get your act together..maybe sitting out a few games might make you realize what you did.The ball is in your court..good luck
And hopefully we can beat U. Texas in 6 weeks...

A Macon television station reports that Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall was cited Friday afternoon for possessing less than an ounce of marijuana in Reynolds, which is in Taylor County.
WMAZ reports that according to Reynolds police Chief Lonnie Holder, Marshall was pulled over at 1:19 p.m. Friday for having a tinted windshield. He then was cited for a window-tint violation and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana ? a violation of a city ordinance.
The station reported that Marshall was driving on Ga. 96 in Reynolds, which is located about midway between Macon and Columbus.
Marshall was not arrested, Holder reportedly told WMAZ.

Athens ? Georgia basketball player Brandon Morris is likely to miss some games this season as a result of his arrest early Sunday morning. It remains to be seen if it will be all of them.
Morris, a 6-foot-8 junior forward and 25-game starter for the Bulldogs last season, was booked into Athens-Clarke County jail at 3:21 a.m. Sunday on a felony charge of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. He was released to Double-O Bonding on a $2,500 bond at 11:54 a.m.
The circumstances surrounding his arrest remain unknown as of Sunday afternoon. The incident report was not available and an Athens-Clarke County police spokesperson said the department would have no comment. Head coach Mark Fox also declined comment through a team spokesman.
Morris? athletic fate will ultimately be determined by the UGA Athletic Association?s Comprehensive Action committee and the outcome of his legal case. According to Georgia?s student-athlete conduct codes, Morris faces both the drug aspect of his arrest and the fact that it is a felony charge. Another consideration will be his past disciplinary history, which includes a three-game suspension for undisclosed reasons to start last season.
Since it is a felony arrest, UGA guidelines call for ?immediate suspension from athletic competition.? As such, the comprehensive action committee ? which consists of the executive associate athletic director (Frank Crumley), the senior associate AD (Carla Williams), the faculty athletics representative (David Shipley) and the associate athletic director for sport administration ? will review the facts and make a disciplinary recommendation to the Athletic Director Greg McGarity. ?These recommendations may include but are not limited to dismissal from the team, suspension from competition, reduction in aid and/or cancellation of athletic aid,? according to the student-athlete handbook.
If Morris? suspension last year involved the use of marijuana, this would be considered a second offense and he would be suspended ?for not less than 30 percent of the season,? or about nine games.
Morris, a graduate of Atlanta?s Miller Grove High School, averaged 8.6 points while playing 25.4 minutes per game as a sophomore last season. He is one of four starters returning from last year?s team, which won 20 games and played in two rounds of the NIT.

Athens ? Jonathan Taylor, the sophomore defensive lineman who was arrested on Tuesday on an aggravated assault/family violence charge, was dismissed from the team Wednesday afternoon just hours after being released from jail.
Taylor was released from Athens-Clarke County Jail on a $5,000 bond at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday. His McWhorter Hall residence on the UGA campus was being packed up by 1:30 p.m. and UGA issued a news release that Taylor had been kicked off the team at 2:47 p.m.
Taylor had been placed into the custody of UGA Police at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday in response to a third-party complaint that Taylor physically assaulted his girlfriend during a domestic dispute at McWhorter Hall dormitory. Police said evidence and witness accounts indicate the 6-foot-4, 340-pound Taylor ?choked? and ?struck with a closed fist? his 5-11, 170-pound female victim.
It was Taylor?s second run-in with the law this year. In March, he was one of four Georgia football players arrested for thieft by deception after they were caught double-cashing meal reimbursement checks. Taylor had received pretrial diversion treatment on those charges, was ordered to do community service and allowed to stay on the team without facing suspension. That matter will now be revisited by the courts.
Taylor, who played at Jenkins County High, was listed as a third-team nose guard on the Bulldogs? preseason depth chart. That position also is manned by senior Mike Thornton and junior Chris Mayes. Taylor played in 10 games and had nine tackles and a sack as a redshirt freshman last season.

UGA OLB Davin Bellamy jailed for DUI

By Chip Towers
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Trouble has once again found Georgia?s defense.
Davin Bellamy, a redshirt freshman outside linebacker from Atlanta, was arrested by Athens-Clarke County Police early Saturday morning for driving under influence and speeding. He was booked in Athens-Clarke County Jail at 5:02 a.m. Saturday and released an hour and 20 minutes later on a $2,000 bond.
Bellamy issued an apology via his Twitter account Saturday morning:

It was the second arrest of a Georgia defensive player this week and the fifth in 2014. Earlier this week, defensive lineman Jonathan Taylor was arrested for aggravated assault/family violence. Taylor was dismissed from the team on Wednesday.
Taylor, defensive end James DeLoach and safety Tray Matthews were arrested in March for theft by deception. Only DeLoach remains on the team.
No other details were immediately available on Bellamy?s arrest. According to Georgia?s student-athlete conduct codes, a DUI arrest brings a two-game suspension for football players.
Bellamy is expected to contribute on defense this year. He?s currently the backup to Jordan Jenkins at the new ?Jack? outside linebacker position. A former 4-star prospect out of Chamblee High School, the 6-foot-5 Bellamy is listed at 235 pounds but has been one of Georgia?s primary beneficiaries of the strength and conditioning program
