Always a 3rd place team in the Dallas Metro Plex -{ TCU-SMU} but we had the better athletes that got drafted into the pro's Maybe our SAT scores weren't as high as the TCU and SMoo's but those schools never wanted to play us because they knew they had only had" bragging rights over NT. In 1968 Arkansas was NO 1 in the country when Stece Ramsey thew a TD to Ronnie Shanlin to win the game BUt the South West Conf ,then changed their minds and called it Incomplte because Shanlin trapped the ball and refs called it a TD incomplete Talk about a " home call in Little Rock Ark I think 9 players for North Texas that played in that game went onto to the NFL including Mean Joe Green the 4th overall pick in the draft Anyway North Texas did make the top 25 in the AP and UPI polls this week
