know what you mean. perhaps it because so many races run in a typical day....i don't know. horses are a fascinating game in my book. i have gathered some useful info here on HOW to wager. i like wagers where i part wheel. my win wagers are not a high percentage -- backing them with 2 units to place is the only thing that keeps me above drowning.

i just keep trying to be a better player, and i appreciate anything anyone has to offer.

i am, for the record, not a supporter of tout services or tip sheets. in my opinion you'll go broke following them, and, like enron, their accounting is a little funky. some of them give four horses and count it as a win if ANY of those horses hit.:moon:

later, hope you keep posting

Dogfish you are right

Dogfish you are right

Dogfish that reminds me of a short story. As I posted earlier my brother is a groom for Dale Capuano at Laurel. And Capuano was running a horse at CharlesTown, The horse he was running that night had not eaten a thing in 4 days. He went off at odds of 7-5 needless to say we threw him out and wagered heavily on the other contenders in exactas and trifectas. It was one of those good days at the track that dont come too often. We left with smiles on our faces and pockets stuffed. It is a good thing knowing if a horse is not going to run especially when he will be favored. I am sure alot of small time trainers who are big bettors stiff their horses sometimes to cash a nice ticket every now and then also. Anyway Keep grinding. Jrdhorse

here's the stuff i want to stop doing:

i have a pick three figured out (well, you know, i think i've got it figured out). anyway i race to the auto tote right before the post at oaklawn, i think i get the dam thing in. return to my seat at my local OTB facilities: first race hits, second race hit. i get to looking at my ticket -- i had waited too late. my picks began with the race AFTER the one i wanted.

waste of money and poor discipline on my part.

"keep grinding" gl to you, man.

When Monmouth and Saratoga get rolling I will post alot. I'm a summertime horse player. My best tip came at Monmouth I was having a great day. Up 5 or 6 hundred which is alot for me. Red hot, I mean My system is rolling. I'm out in the Paddock tocheck out a horse that I love, my best bet of the day. He's going off second choice 3-1 and we had a little info from the trainer and jock that he was going to beat the chalk. So I'm looking him over in the walking ring, and the Jockey of the 3 horse Joe Rocco Jr in his only mount of the day jumps on his mount right in front of me and the trainer whose name escapes me begins to give him last minute instructions. Rocco says all to loudly "Wire em. I know" Some of his friends are standing by me and one of em says "send'em Rock" Joey looks over at the guy and the tote board and says " Just like western union. The fastest way to send money is wire to wire" I couldn't believe my ears. I have been going there for 25 years and have never before or never since heard a jock act like this. I made a $400 win ticket on him and a 100 dollar exacta him and my horse. Rocco wins the race by 12 lengths and my horse is second. exacta pays 72.00 horse pays 29 and change. I ate good that night.
