Nothing like sacking your coach less than two weeks before the season starts, but the Illini have fired Tim Beckman.



The interim head coach at Illinois will be OC Bill Cubit.

Amid allegations of player mistreatment and underachievement, Illinois has fired football coach Tim Beckman, according to multiple reports.

Beckman went 12-25 in his three-year tenure and compiled an abysmal 4-20 mark in Big Ten play. More recently, several former players alleged that Beckman mistreated them, including asking them to play through injuries and, in at least one case, engaging in a physical confrontation at practice.

This should be fun to watch. Cubit had some pretty fair talent at times while at W Mich but seemed to always find a way to mess it all up.
