Their best "win" being a loss at home to USC

Here are Weiss' accomplishments at ND:
- wins against a grand total of TWO teams with winning records (Michigan with a sterling 7-5 record, and mighty NAVY!).
- losses to every other team he had played with a winning record.
- a loss in its bowl game,
- is 0-2 against BCS teams.

Last week...they get a commitment from an unranked WR from New Jersey and it's all over ESPNews and ESPN radio as if they just got the #1 player in the nation

That is fine with me...but the unfair recruiting advantage some schools get because of ESPN sucking their taint (ND/USC in football and Duke/UNC in basketball) is rather apparent

unfair recruiting advantage, lol. yeah they're full of top 10 blue chip players all over their roster, oh wait they're not due to bob davie and ty willingham bringing nothing to this team the past 10 years. don't tell me notre dame has an unfair recruiting advantage when all the top players go to usc, miami, ohio st, etc when they have a choice of those schools and nd. weis will slowly bring them back to the top of college football. weis has been there one season, no need to criticize him yet. wait till all of his players are there

notre dame will always have a good offense as long as weiss stays there...especially with quinn at qb......

but we all know defense wins championships & until nd gets some speed on that side of the ball they will not challenge for the championship....

don't know how over-rated they are though....

Notre Dame has always been over hyped and hardly ever live up to any of it!! They are kinda like Bama had a few good years but now everything is different!! Very Different because of more "PARITY" between schools. The best recruits are going all over instead of just a few select schools etc like the old days.

Notre Dame ALWAYS gets a ton of hype, the difference this year is that the might deserve it. I still think the talent base is too thin to get into the Big Game.

Michigan should be tough and @ USC will be very difficult. ...Oh, yeah, there is a little game against Texas.

The Defense is average, but I am looking forward to see what Weis does with the Offense.

So Cal
N.D has high expectations(media ,sports ,fans etc) this season.
Last season K.Herbsret said in his 05 ncaa preview they would win 5 or 6 games. Many magazines had them as the same . Thats no expectations.

It will be very interesting to watch N.D this season.
Maybe a bit premature but a dynesty in the making is likely.

I love Weiss, football genius...N.E did not win 3 S.B's with superstar player's. The man can flat out coach his players and gets the best out of them.

As I said "OLD DAYS" Schools like Notre, Bama, Michigan, etc dominated because All the top recruits wanted to play for the well known schools and also no scholarship limits so the bigger schools had alot more athletes they could run on and off the field to wear the other schools down and eventually win the game( Ala: Bear Bryant!!) What has Notre Dame done in the last 26 years numb nuts? How damn dumb are you?? Do you have a one track mind or tunnel vision or some damn ignorant disease? You sure as hell know nothing about the big picture in sports!! You sound like these redkneck roll tiders living in the past!!! That means nothing!! Show me something now!! Notre Dame has nothing to show at this point in time at all!! Hasnt for along time!! Might this year but my bet is "NOT"!!! In your dreams NUMB NUTTER!!!

It looks like the library gave you permission to use their internet again. This time try concealing the flask around the little kids, while cursing at the computer. Thanks.

Big picture: ND matters to college football... LSU doesn't. Bye Bye

I agree...I wouldn't say over-rated but for the most usually over-hyped

ND's defense is really going to have to improve this year if they expect to make it to the NC...but I think its more than obvious that we'll see a good amount of recruiting go their way for the next few years

But I do think their offense was exposed a little last year in the bowl game as not being as great as some FANS thought they were

ND is at a disadvantage in other aspects though. For example, academics requirements at schools like ND and Stanford are far beyond what is required at your typical top 25 football school. This goes for admissions and requirements as a student.

Hey I'm an ND fan and alum but I will admit ESPN is "sucking them off" right now. It is true, and some of the preseason polls are too. But that doesnt mean they have an "unfrair recruiting advantage"...gimme a break man

ND is always a feel good story when they come off a good year or are doing well. I dont think being a media sweetheart makes it "unfair" though. Alot of people respect ND's tradition and prestige, and think its good for college football in general that ND had a winning season last year and played in a major bowl. I mean the college football HOF is in South Bend for gods sake. Its like the "mecca" of college football. The networks are going to hype them when they are good, and possibly overrate them.

I dont see why that is "unfair" or upsetting to anyone. If anything, you should be happy! If they are soooo overrated, then you will make a fortune this year betting on that philosophy. This board is about handicapping right?? They have a tough schedule, even though 2 of the tougher games are at home, they still go to USC to finish up. It will all come out in the wash, if they are overrated they will pay their dues if or when they fall short of expectations...

Michigan State owns Notre Dame and could upset them again this year. Notre Dame loses 2 games this year.

No doubt about it... But MSU made a huge mistake by planting their flag at ND's 50 yard line after last years game. ND has been talking about that all year long.
