Sun,
Bottom line is no matter what the outcome of this game was, USC is the better team.

Oh Ok, so if it was Notre Dame 34 USC 31, then usc was the better team :scared sure, what ever.

This could be argued so many different ways, but Leinhart admitted he was pushed, and if he spun to the right, he was dead, stuffed, loss of about 3 yards, Game over. Notre Dame wins.

"Sun Tzu- Well if the call the penalty on Bush Notre Dame wins the game. By definition they would have made the plays to win wouldnt they?"..............

No, its not just between you and Sun~
In fact, this is not your thread, but sorry for adding my opinion to your opinion, wtf?

P.S. By the way, I had ND +12*

:mj07:

Definetly a great weekend though?! :scared

USC drove on ND with 1:30 left in the game??? They got one lucky pass on 4th and nine.

There should have been a penalty on Bush... You cannont argue this. It is in the rule book. A player cannont push another offensive player to gain yardage.

Pete Carrol is a pussy. Who doesn't want instant replay... Only a coach who has PAC 10 officials against an out of conference game.

But I'm with you that play should have never happened. ND had a chance to stop them on 4th and nine. They blew it. It will take a week to get over this...

Yes, it sucks that Notre Dame gave up that huge play on 4th and 9. But saying they didn't deserve to win because they legally let USC get down to the 1. They deserved to lose if they legally let USC get into the end zone.
Also, I just don't understand the fumble going out of bounds stopping the clock. I do, but I don't. If Leinhart gets wrapped up and then fumbles on purpose towards the sidelines and it goes out of bounds....would they have still stopped the clock.
Is this a judgement call? How can you prove intent? Thats why you have set rules. Its just so huge b/c they had no timeouts and there was no other way for them to run another play.
Who's to say that Leinhart didn't see he wasn't going to make it and just held the ball a lot looser at the end trying to give himself another chance if he didn't make it.
Do I think thats what happened? No. But rules are made b/c you can't always prove intent.
To me, it was a great game and as that play happened I thought that Leinhart was going to get in. But, I knew if he didn't that, that was it. The whole game came down to that play. If he makes it they win. If he doesn't get in, they lose.
And then they put the time back on the clock. Then Notre Dame stuffs Leinhart and Bush pushes him in the end zone.

And then people tell me that Notre Dame did not get hosed b/c they let one of the most dominant teams in the nation get CLOSE to the end zone on the game deciding drive.

Its total bullshit and USC fans should realize they were beaten. They got an extra play after the game was over and they cheated on that play. I despise USC. Go back to dominating your piss poor conference. Kind of like Fla. St. back in the 90's. USC and the 7 dwarfs.

Among Libtards!!
this game wounded me a lot yesterday.....I haven't felt this bad since the BC game in '93.....I didn't sleep good at all last night.....kept running about 3-4 plays in my mind last night that will haunt me for quite awhile I think.....a win last night and I think we were 1 game (tennessee) away from sweeping the remaining games and headiing to the rose bowl.....to be so close hurts. :cursin:

I'm tired too of all of the USC isn't the best team anymore talk and all of that other crap that tries to downplay what ND did yesterday.......is the hate for ND that big? Every week it is something about who ND beat or who ND hung tough with....get used to it boys.....we have 19 starters back next year and the #1 recruiting class in the country is landing in South Bend this year and if you can't handle ND now, you really aren't going to like the next decade!! John Saunders and Mark May are....well, you know what they are!! :s4:

In the NFL intent isnt an issue - in that situation the game would have been over.

Visiting to Notre Lame, you need all the advantage you can get. You gotta call not having instant replay with Pac 10 officials, smart coaching. Just like letting the grass grow 6 inches, and running the sprinklers all night to help neutralize the speed advantage of USC.

Both teams are great this year, both teams played great yesterday, and both coaches pulled out all the stops to give their teams the best advantage they could.

As far as the "push seen round the world", many calls were missed all day long. Part of the reason this was a good game. Refs let em play. Besides I miss the old "RUGBY PUSH" plays (JK). That rule is designed to keep 350 lb guys from surrounding the little guy and getting 5 yards every play. Not to be called at the goal line when a QB is rolling across his O-line like a pig in the mud trying to get to the trough. Watching the play many times Leinhart still makes it into the end zone without Bush.

I'm not a true fan of either team, but I am glad I recorded it because it is an instant classic. Great game.

PS: DirtyDiapers, dont forget all that extra CROW you have to eat, I didn't.
