It will be tough for ND to recruit the number of high caliber athletes that the institutions with lesser academic standards are pulling in. USC, LSU, OSU, FLA, Okie, etc will continue to draw from a larger pool, thus will be difficult for ND to overtake.

Watched the game again. Impressed with Clausen and the receivers except for Kumara who caused both interceptions. They've got depth there and he won't have the opportunity to make many more mistakes. Also impressed with the young linebackers and the corners. I think they have the ability to match one on one with any receivers on their schedule (except SC) so I think the defense should be fine.

Their offensive line just confuses the hell out of me. Run blocking can't be that hard, but that's the weakest dline they may face all year and while the backs had some trouble finding the holes, they shouldn't have had to spend a whole lot of time looking for them against that makeshift Dline.

They've had 3 straight top 10 recruiting classes, but their Junior class has already lost two QBs, a WR, and a TE because they weren't going to be playing with the talent coming in behind them. The only talent left on the Junior class is a third-string RB and the Oline who just look clueless. Next year's class looks strong as well.

They're starting to get depth but they still have the third most frosh in the two deep in the NCAA's.

So, my expectations for the year were downgraded, but the future's still bright

Go Irish!! Beat Michigan!!

I guess I don't get why everyone hates ND so much. Obviously, being a fan I see it everywhere I go, when I travel through the USA. Most off the time, the student-athletes do it the right way when it comes to amateur sports. I remember going down two years ago with a bunch of ND alums for the sugar bowl (ND vs. LSU) a week before to help out with the people of New Orleans only to be harassed during the actual game. I know I sound like a real pussy right now, but I just don?t get it. I'm not sure if it's a bias towards Catholics or just people who get sick of ND on the main stream. I just want to say we try and do it the right way and yes the football team is not quite were it used to be, but I will stand by the team through thick and thin. Cheers everyone...

Dirty, I don't know if that's so much the hatred of Notre Dame as it is how LSU fans usually act. It's the overwhelming consensus from anyone I've ever met that has attended an LSU game that they are the worst fans in college football. I'm not saying that every single one is but the bad ones definitely leave a s**t stain for the good ones.
