FYI

FYI

Ohio St. is #1 in the BCS rankings to date. Strength of schedule is killing Miami. That will change in the next couple of weeks.

Last time I checked, Ohio State still has to play Michigan. And Miami still has three games left. Until then, I wouldn't be bragging about playing for a NC. 1995 and 1996 should have taught you a lesson.

Above the Clouds....
Ohio St struggles every week big time and Mia has 3 tough games coming up. Everything changes in the next few weeks. What I don't understand is that they're doing everything they can to keep Mia. out of the #1 spot. If you put a team #1 in the begining of the year they don't lose that spot till they lose! It looks like the BCS boys are playing the TV money game.

Ummm, gecko, Ohio St. will play the number 9 or 10 team in their final game. V.Tech (who can definitely beat Miami) has dropped big time after two straight losses. Not sure how much ground Miami will gain in Strength of Schedule, if any. It doesn't matter. If OSU and Miami win out, Ohio St. will be #1, just like they are now. At least in the BCS.

Lanny,

My bad, didn't really understand since I *did* take one Tigers tonight. But yes, LSU was on the slate tonight, just never pulled the trigger. Watching for a possible HT play.

Time,

Yup, no way they could play with Texas(who lost to T.Tech, who lost by 24 to OSU) or Washington St. (who OSU beat by 18) or They can't play with anybody in the top 18 or so, let the morons tell it.

HA! If that's how you wanna compare teams....by how much they win or lose to common opponents ....then try this on.

Michigan hung 45 on Illinois (OSU needed an extra quarter just to get past 16) and we beat them by 17. UM put 23 on Purdue (OSU managed only 10) UM put 41 on Minnesota (OSU managed to get 34) or how about UM scoring 27 on PSU (OSU only scored 13!)

Hey, it was you're point!

So, are you in on the avatar bet or not? With all that confidence....what's holding you back?

My post about OSU being #1 in the BCS rankings was a reply to hellah10, who was referring to Miami's position in both major polls.

I was mistaken in implying that the strength of schedule will change things in the coming weeks. Miami does have the 2nd worst S.O.S. of any team in the BCS rankings. As long as the Buckeyes win over Michigan they should retain the #1 position. In fact, as of now OSU's win over #3 Washington St. is the reason they are #1, based on the "quality wins" component. (Miami has the edge otherwise, a .11 differential.)

Who'd a thunk it that Miami's wins over Florida, Florida St., Tennessee, and upcoming Virginia Tech wouldn't have mattered as much as it could have? If any of them were Top 10 teams then it might be a different story.

despite S.O.S........Miami hasnt lost in like 2 years...and in my eyes, until someone beats them, they are #1...if the Bucks beat them, IF they play them...then I`ll HAVE to say they are #1....but for now they are #2....

good luck :)

Smooth,

That's exactly how people HAVE been comparing teams. It's absolutely absurd. People have slammed Ohio States schedule and would have could have should have scenarios for the last three weeks. How everybody is better. It makes no sense. Just thought i'd throw that out there to see who bit. What a surprise!

As for your bet, no, I would rather lose any amount of money than have your nasty, defaced arm as my avatar for a year. Who would you trust to hold our money? You mentioned that there were 2 people that you trusted here at MJ's. Who are they? With the spread, of course.

Gecko,

Gotcha, thanks. No doubt that Washington States run has helped.

Yeah, whatever.
If you're afraid of wearing my avatar, then you must have some doubts, as I suspected. It doesn't suprise me.

You wanna gimme UM and the points for some $ huh. No problem!
Who's line are we gonna use? Just so I know....I don't wanna drag any names into this so if you're up for it, get my e mail from Jack and shoot me a message, after that, I'll send you a reply with whom I'd trust to hold the $. I'll be waiting..............

Of course I have doubts. Just like I have against Penn St., Wisky, Purdue and Illinois. What kind of total buffoon (excluding you) wouldn't have doubts against these teams, 3 of them on the road?

Sure, i'll contact you and see who is 'trustworthy', in your opinion. More than likely, i'll agree, but we'll see. Would you consider Jack trustworthy? I know that you alluded to the fact that he and I are good friends, but do you really think he would destroy his rep by screwing you? He wouldn't do it if his rep was at stake or not. But i'll check out your 'list', sure.

As far as the line, we'll agree to one and that will be that. I don't see that as being a problem.

How about the opening line in Monday's USAToday. It's something we can both look at Monday morning. Or....I have an account at Infinity, we could go with that line also.

Hellah, I respect your threads. You have a good insight
on games. Smooth on the other hand, I'm surprised his
mother lets him up this late.

It is just a game. Everyone has an opinion just like everyone has an a$$hole. They are all different.

This is an old timers opinion,

To bad Mich and Oh St are as week as they are. Game won't be that good because one plays not to lose. Thats Oh St. The coach of the other Mich has very little killer in him. Whats really to bad Iowa does not get a chance to bang Oh St. Can we say it was easy to play against both because they both were looking ahead. At least if we use that excuse we can forgive how bad both looked today. I like it because I like the dogs. But Mich had 14 points in less then 5 minutes and had 21 at end of game vs my Wisks week Df's. I thought I was sunk but then I remember who coaches Mich. Iowa had to screw up vs there in state rival or we would not be second guessing.

DJV,

But Iowa *did* have a chance to play a poor to mediocre Ia St. team at Iowa City. They couldn't beat them.

The Rose Bowl will have it's choice if Ohio State goes to the Fiesta. It would be kind of funny if they took Notre Dame.

In fact, they would deserve it if they beat USC. They played a much tougher schedule than Iowa. I really worry that Iowa will embarrass the big ten if they get matched up with Washington State. Washington State would/will destroy them while Notre Dame would at least give them a game.

Of course, the Rose Bowl will likely take the overrated big ten team, and i'm all about tradition, and a huge Big Ten fan, but really, i'm a little worried about this one.

On another note,

Let's not all forget that Miami has two games left that they can lose, also.

If Ohio State lucks out and beats Michigan, and Miami loses, then we have Wash St.(or Okie) and OSU in the fiesta and probably Iowa and Notre Dame in the Rose Bowl. (If USC beats ND, then USC and Iowa in the Rose Bowl). Then we can watch Iowa get 'exposed'.

They had a great win at Michigan, but really.

This all sounds so stupid, doesn't it? That's exactly how many here have sounded lately.

Bottom line, if you play a good schedule and go 13-0, you deserve it. Strangely enough, the goal is to win, and that's all that matters.

Let's look at Michigan's defense since Not so Smooth wants to compare margins of victory:

Ohio State averaging 37.5 pts at home this year while giving up 11. In Conference games OSU is giving up 11 pts a game and scoring 24 a game. Michigan on the road is averaging 33 pts a game but giving up almost 25 a game. In conference games, Michigan is averaging 30 pts a game and giving up 21. Overall this year, Mich averages 25 a game and gives up 20. The fact is Ohio State, for whatever reason, plays at a different level at home. Their defense is one of the best in the country. Michigan's way to win this year has been to "outgun" the other team. "We'll give you 20 to 25 pts but we'll score 30" seems to be there motto. Ohio State has been consistent on the defensive side of the ball all year. That will continue on the 23rd of November as well. Ohio State has the edge in special teams and defense for this game and if Clarett is healthy, neither team is a clear cut offensive favorite.
