What a day....snow,sleet,rain,snow,ice...no school..but NY state education department shoots an airball. In NY we have regents..those are state tests for HS students...we give them in Jan. and in June...you need to pass them to graduate HS..my school gives the English 3 regents in Jan......so yesterday over 350 students came in for the 2 hour test...BUT...part two of the test was today...now we all know that you need both parts of the test to make it a legal test...so we are all praying for no snow on day 2..BUt almost the entire state today closed schools due to the weather..not sure of the Buffalo area...NY Commish of Education sends out an urgent E-mail yesterday saying that if your school closes tomorrow the part 1 is null and void....you can retake it in june...yesterdays test doesn't count....now since the entire state is closed and the part 2 tests are locked and sealed in everyones schools safe why not extend part 2 to monday...we still have regents until friday in other subjects...They could make monday am part two...
but they needed to do that today because if any schools opened today the tests have been exposed....not sure if any one understands this but sometimes we educators are the dumbest people around...many of us yesterday e-mailed and called the commish in albany to see if he would do that...we never got an answer...so I;m sure some schools today somewhere in out state gave out part two of the test and the rest of us have to suffer...unreal
