I find it refreshing that we have a President in office that is willing to accept responsibility for his errors in judgement.

Did he really have a choice after not cutting ties but instead saying he fully supported him. Then the guy withdraws after having the presidents full support:shrug: While I agree it is nice to see people admit when they are wrong, it's not like he really had a choice outside of just staying quite.

I wonder why he didn't admit his "mistake" yesterday? Seemed like he fully supported that mistake.

Now suddenly today he admits it after Daschle withdraws?

Nice try, but only the most tranced out Obamaphile will buy that BS :nono: :nono: :nono:

Once again, we've really downgraded from a chief executive who did not made any errors during his administration. Then again, he was in direct communication with the Lord.

I completely agree.

Top 10 errors made by Bush:

1. Didn't pass enough tort reform.
2. Tried to nominate Harriet Myers.
3. Expanded Medicare with Part D.
4. Allowed the democrats to control fannie/freddie.
5. Gave free money to the Katrina crowd who for the most part blew it.
6. Spent too much on stupid programs like no child left behind.
7. Tried to let in the illegals.
8. Passed a horrible bailout/giveaway bill.
9. Managed the war incompetently.
10. Didn't aggressively pursue practical energy solutions such as nuclear power.

Its the timeline I have a problem with--

Days prior it was "everyone makes mistakes"
The day prior to Daschle resigning O was asked by press if he still supported him O said "absolutely"

Then NYT and even Huffington post ask for resignation.

Next day Daschle resigns and then
" it's I made a mistake"????

--and affluent people should live by diff standards than normal Joe's--

Amazing how O's ethics/standards changed overnight:shrug:

Better overnight than never... though I agree... as someone else said in another thread... he missed an oppurtunity to gain serious "change" momentum by immediately refusing those with tax problems.

I maintain the problem isn't Democrats or Republicans but ALL politicians. They are all crooks and liars. Why do we let them stand above the law mocking us? We are the stupid ones for buying their bullshit every November.

Obama does not look good on this no matter how you slice it. But glad that the "Liberal Press" is willing to hold his feet to the fire. If they did that to Bush maybe we wouldn't be in the position we are now.

I agree with many of you that O has already proven to be a double-talker. In fact, I feel worse about O now than I did when I voted for McCain in November. I hate to be right on this one, but only fools fell for the change platform on which Obama ran his campaign. If O's first few weeks are any indication, then it will be business as usual in DC for at least another 4 years.

I obviously still feel strongly that a viable 3rd party is our only hope to break free of the oligarchal control of the current powers that be.

That said, Obama openly admitted that he made a mistake. Should he have handled the situation better? Absolutely, but at least he was able to own up to it. GWB, who I feel was a solid leader who made a few key mistakes, had a problem facing the truth and admitting his mistakes imo. Unlike GWB before him, maybe O actually learns from this error in judgement:shrug:

More than anything, he passed on an easy opportunity to unite the populous. As it stands, no open-minded liberal, much less any conservatives, can say that Obama is practicing the change that he preached. Of course, there is little doubt that true change was never a real option, but that is an argument for another day.

I certainly agree Fek--its a 2way street and boths sides will cover each ones ass's cause they are just as guilty.

I have heard members from both sides rave on Daschle being man of impeccable credentials and character despite this "innocent error"

Immpecable character my ass--he's a serial tax cheat. Have they already forgot why he lost his seat in 04--

In the current controversy regarding Tom Daschle?s failure to report income (and thereby evade the taxes on that income), Daschle has portrayed himself as the most honest person in America, who always intended to pay all the taxes he owes, and who simply made an honest mistake. But history shows that this is not the first time Daschle has dodged taxes, raising even more questions about Daschle?s veracity and fitness for office.

In 2004, during his failed re-election campaign, it was revealed that Daschle claimed a property-tax homestead exemption for his $1.9 million Washington, D.C. mansion. The problem was that in order to claim the tax exemption, Daschle had to certify under penalty of perjury that the mansion was his primary residence. Daschle did so, and got the tax exemption, but there was a problem. Daschle had voted in South Dakota, the state he represented, by absentee ballot, listing a South Dakota address as his primary residence. South Dakota primary residency also was a requirement of Daschle running for office. When the homestead issue surfaced, accusations were made that Daschle or someone on his behalf altered the records to make it appear that only Daschle?s wife has applied for the exemption.
Daschle?s opponent, now Senator John Thune, made an issue of this tax dodge in the campaign, and Daschle was defeated? How much did Tom Daschle save on his homestead exemption tax dodge? A measly $288. Is there any thief more pathetic than a petty thief?

--now back to Obama--
If he's going to run on "change" he's certainly made a mockery of it--and in doing so deserves the heat.

Is comparable to one from the religious right running on values and getting caught his preverbial "draws down"

My hope is that if O learns anything from this is you can't stradle fence and make decisions on popularity--hopefully he throws Pelosi and Reid under the bus--Decides he will make or break his presidency on his convictions and not others--an then hope he makes the right choices 75% of the time.

I will be looking hard at this stimulus bill and what part he plays in trimming the entitlement programs out of it in the next couple of days.

this doesn't look good for you.. YOU ARE QUOTING THE LIBERAL NYT'S & HUFFINGTON.... WHY WOULD THOSE CRAYZ LIB'S BE ON THE RIGHT SIDE ? I SAID IT HERE YESTERDAY, someone was going to have to hold his feet to the fire... His own party, the media and the American people. We did and unlike the last president, he did the right thing... I like it... Doesn't matter why these people do the right thing, as long as it happens... It's obvious the key break from the last 8 yrs, this president is smart enough to admit wrong, make a decision and move on... We have all witnessed what happens with this type or the lack of, this kind of mentality.....http://www.alternet.org/blogs/peek/67856/ you don't want to go back to this ? Do you ???

I'll tell you how I seen last 8 years--

Biggest threat was terrorist and our saftey

King terrorist UBL proclaimed the center of war as Iraq and promied he would drive us out as we were papers tigers and didn't have stomach for.

Foruntately for us Your Retreat-Surge won't work party-was not in charge or he would have been 100% right.

Unfortunately for AQ your party was not in power.

Do you think it is coincidence--that after seeing O undo things that have kept us safe to pander to the pinkies as was 1st on his agenda--We all of a sudden have Korea rattling sabres again-iran launching satelites--and very little doubt he has not only got the those terrorist in custody but those out there planning once again :00hour

If you think they aren't testing him--think again
Question is --will he grow a set of nuts--or kurby like a rabbitt. They're watching!!!!!!!!!

:nooo: --just out

BISHKEK (AFP) ? Kyrgyzstan's government on Wednesday approved the closure of a US airbase on its territory used as a vital supply route for Western military operations in Afghanistan.

The decision by the Central Asian state came as a snub to the administration of US President Barack Obama, who has singled out Afghanistan as the main front in US military operations overseas and plans to deploy 30,000 more troops there over the next 18 months.

They're watching!!!

Did Iraq and Korea develop these weapons in the last two weeks?
Did OBL think he was going to beat our military or did he think he would have us go bankrupt and implode?

do you think bush was tested on 911 ? yes and he failed ..... just because you get guys killed for nothing or what could have been accomplished with less loss of humanity doesn't make you strong or strengthen America's postion for the future... Don't expect you to understand this kind of thinking....it's all about that gang mentality with you people & your base..... lets not try and save life and liberty... killing at any cost, breeds the same... who are we, when we become them ????
