In the meantime, back in reality-land, the country had rebounded from an epic GOTP induced economic catastrophe, the unemployment levels are the lowest in a decade, gas prices are falling to new lows and continue to fall, all while greater energy conservation measures have taken hold and are working better than anyone could have imagined. And did I mention the stellar success of ObamaCare? All of this without any help from the spiteful and petulant childern of the GOTP.

....................................................

yet we can go back to 2007 the year leading up to the election of the first black President Of The United States and the pages in this very forum and others were filled w/vile about how this country would crumble in ruin.

But 66,862,039 voters thought differently...

How about them apples.

Opinion: Obamacare pain will hit in 2017

Stephen Parente 4:12 p.m. EST December 10, 2014

Stephen Parente is the associate dean of the Carlson School of Management, and the director of the Medical Industry Leadership Institute at the University of Minnesota.

Consumers in the midst of the Affordable Care Act 's second open enrollment period are seeing average premiums increase by 4.6 percent in Kentucky and just over 12 percent in Ohio. Although neither increase is optimal, both are still lower than some of the "skyrocketing" prices that the ACA's naysayers predicted.

Those naysayers should have read the law more carefully. The real premium spikes won't occur until January 2017 ? conveniently after the next presidential election.
The University of Minnesota's Medical Industry Leadership Institute, where I am director, recently released an analysis predicting how the ACA will affect prices over the next few years. We estimated that single and family plan premiums in both states could increase by low single digits for 2015 ? a prediction that has been largely borne out by the recently announced rates. For 2016, we estimate that family and individual bronze plan premiums could drop between 1 and 2 percent.

For the first few years, the Affordable Care Act will look little different than the system it replaced. True, it has not led to the dramatic cost savings that its authors promised, but neither has it made health care essentially unaffordable.

2017 will be the real test. The law contains two programs that will expire at the beginning of that year: "Risk corridors" and "re-insurance." Both programs conceal health insurance's true costs ? costs that truly have skyrocketed under the ACA ? by subsidizing insurance companies with taxpayer money. Risk corridors give insurance companies money if their customers spend more on health care than the insurer estimated; reinsurance allows insurance companies to bill the federal government for particularly expensive patients.

Both programs ultimately allow insurance companies to list artificially low premiums for their health care plans.

The Affordable Care Act's authors created these two programs for a specific reason: They would ease the transition from the pre- to the post-ACA health care system. In the post-ACA world, health care is more expensive ? a fact borne out by 2014's average 41 percent spike in base premiums. Reinsurance and risk corridors have largely hidden these price increases from consumers for the past year; they will continue to do so until Jan. 1, 2017.

Premiums will likely skyrocket come that date. Our study estimates that once the two subsidies expire, premiums for a cheap bronze plan in Ohio could increase by a staggering 275 percent for individuals and by 130 percent for families. In Kentucky, the increases could be 96 percent for individuals and 46 percent for families.

It appears that the law's authors didn't think this would be problematic; they assumed that the ACA would be so popular, or at least engrained in the national psyche, that such changes would be taken in stride. Instead, recent polls show that the Affordable Care Act is more unpopular than ever.

The federal government will thus have to act to prevent yet another round of anti-ACA blowback. Washington has two options: Extend the insurance company subsidies or increase federal subsidy rates to match the rising premiums. Neither option seems politically feasible. Either or both would potentially add tens, perhaps hundreds, of billions of dollars to annual federal deficit. And the Affordable Care Act was sold on the promise that it wouldn't add, in the president's words, "a single dime" to those deficits.

Then again, that won't actually be President Barack Obama's problem ? voters in Ohio, Kentucky and across America will already have chosen his successor once this crisis becomes apparent. But no matter who addresses it and how, one thing is certain: The debate about the Affordable Care Act is nowhere close to ending.

Here They Are? Barack Obama?s FIVE BIGGEST LIES ? Can You Guess Them? (Video)

Jim Hoft Jun 11th, 2015 1:00 am

Have we ever seen a president more dishonest than Barack Obama?
Have we ever seen a president who could lie so often and with such ease?
After six years of Obama here are his five biggest and most outlandish lies.

1.) If you like your insurance plan, you can keep your insurance plan
Number of mentions: 37 times

As Obama was pushing the tremendously unpopular legislation now known as ?Obamacare?, at least 37 different times he promised that ? If you like your insurance plan you can keep your insurance plan. Even the liberal media could not ignore it. This was lie of the year in 2013. After cancellation letters were sent to 4 million Americans, the public finally realized his breezy assurances were wrong.

2.) With Obamacare we will reduce your insurance premiums by $2,500, per family per year
Number of mentions: At least 22 times

Barack Obama promised repeatedly that Obamacare would reduce your premiums by $2,500 per year. It was a lie. The exact opposite happened. Average premiums have skyrocketed, for some groups as much as 78 percent.

3.) I cannot pass amnesty through executive action? I am not a dictator
Number of mentions: At least 22 times

At least 22 times Obama said he couldn?t do executive amnesty himself. Then he implemented an immunity scheme via executive fiat. ?In bypassing Congress, Obama blatantly ignored the rule of law that is the foundation of our democracy and violated his presidential oath to uphold the laws of this land.?

4.) Not one dime of Obamacare will go for abortions
Number of mentions: At least 12 times

1,036 Obamacare plans cover abortions.

In spite of repeated promises that Obamacare would not pay for abortions, it is now clear that Obama lied. The GAO confirmed that Obama lied about this and if fact 1,036 Obamacare plans pay for abortions. In fact, the Little Sisters of the Poor, a group of Catholic nuns who provide care for the poor, were forced to file a class action mandate to obtain a judgment so they could refrain from providing access to abortion-inducing drugs.

5.) It was not my decision to pull all the troops from Iraq
Number of mentions: 2 times, maybe more

When Obama was running for reelection in 2012, he repeatedly took credit for ?ending the war in Iraq.? Then in August 2014, when he sent troops back to Iraq to fight ISIS, Obama said removing U.S. troops from Iraq was not ?my decision.? As a result of this reckless move, thousands of innocents have been murdered (including many beheadings), enslaved, relocated forcefully, terrorized and tortured. The horror of Obama?s Iraq blunder will be felt for generations.

These are just President Obama?s most notorious lies.
Earlier this week Barack Obama accused the Pentagon of not providing him with a strategy to defeat ISIS. Another lie. Obama also claimed in the same press conference that he brought the deficit down by two-thirds since he came into office. Another lie. That was just one speech. We still have two more years of this. Two more years of nonstop lies.

If you want unbiased news, you can always watch Fox or Glen Beck, or listen to Limbaugh.:142smilie

Last time I watched or listened to Glenn Beck was when he was on Fox and held up symbols for the Nazis and Soviets and tried to compare it to liberals/democrats. It was so shockingly ignorant I ignore him.
