Surprising as it may be, when the President of the United States asks to play golf, the result of that presidential request is not always a ?fore-gone? conclusion.
It?s just been disclosed that President Obama?s Labor Day weekend plans were unexpectedly thrown off course when three different New York-area clubs denied his requests to play a round. Apparently, these elite and pricey golf courses weren?t interested in telling their regulars to ?stand down? while Obama and his security detail took over the links.
Obama was in New York over the weekend to raise money and attend a wedding. And he had expected a little recreation while in Westchester. Calls were made, but?.
One course that reportedly declined the presidential request bears the name of a frequent and vocal critic of Obama ? that name is ?Trump.? NBC4 New York tells us more about the turn-downs that very likely tee?d off the president:
The Trump National Golf Club, the Winged Foot and Willow Ridge were among some of the elite courses that rebuffed the president?s request to tee off there, according to several sources who were told about the president?s advance team?s calls to the club managers.
The sources said the White House advance team was giving the clubs just a day or two notice to fill the president?s open Saturday morning in New York. Of several courses contacted in New York and Connecticut, a spokesman for Fairview Country Club in Greenwich said it would have accommodated the president if he had asked. That was the only club that said it would.
