I used the pic of Jack at the WSOP as my avatar for the duration of the Card-Cowboys game for good luck (which worked nicely, thank you)....and I thought it mocked Jack appropriately for all the dumb bets he's been making with forum.

Jack was in no mood, so he put a pic of me up there. Naturally, Bobby snagged that thing as soon at it became available.

i can see people having a picture of jack as an avatar because he is a hunk...but you on the other hand are not...but i guess there is no accounting for taste...as long as you're happy murphy..that's all i ever wanted since you were a child.....

When 1% has over 50% of the wealth, something is in play that goes far beyond "hard work".

so you want just"a little" socialism?....as long as "the trains run on time"?.....

it`s not about wealth...it`s about having the government`s boot on our necks....

what if i don`t want to subsidize people who refuse to do their part?...what if i don`t choose to subsidize those that want to slack off?...

thats the mark of a "soft tyranny"isn`t it?...

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. "Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."

Not sure who you are talking about but i give to people and receive nothing from anyone. You ought to try it once or twice in your life. Makes the heart feel good. One time i went down town Philly during Christmas season with a fist full of twenties. Tossed them out to some bums on grates. Was i an enabler? Sure but it felt good to know i hooked a few of them up for some Christmas juice. I could just send money to Red Cross but then i would probably be sending my money to some guy making two million a year who runs the show. The real lazy guys. I don't have to be the riches guy in the cemetary.

congratulations

you've just described charity not GOVERNMENT MANDATED DONATIONS/HANDOUTS

guess who usually suffers the most when taxes go up....charitable organizations. i dont think anybody has a problem donating money to their favorite causes, it's just that some of us feel that the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT is not a cause that i want to be forced into giving more money to.

i have no problem with a flat tax. If i make a hundred dollars and its 15 percent and a guy makes a million and his his also 15 percent im fine with that but im sure you Republicans would think this is unfair because he is paying more then me.

oh come on... i'd like to see someone last mouthing off like that in a bar

Probably goes for a lot of people that do/have posted in this forum. I probably wouldn't say 95 percent of what I write in this forum (esp. the stuff from 2003-2004) in a bar.

There's that bogus statistic again. What blog/tv show/radio personality you folks listening to is this coming from? And don't pay any more attention so such careless and inaccurate sources..

Latest figures I could find show top 1% have 33.4% of US wealth--which, incidentally, fell from a high decade earlier of 34.6%. (Look at table 5 here, warning pdf)
