Really?

We have roughly the same number of warheads as the entire world combined. We spend around $6-7B each year to maintain these weapons. Does 2000 instead of 10,000 accurately deliverable weapons really make us weaker? The government spent around $51T on EVERYTHING from 1940-1996. 10% was on nuclear weapons alone. Click on the link for a breakdown.

Ignorance is truly infinite.....with a half-life much longer than that of weapons-grade plutonium apparently.

U.S. Government Historical Obligations by Function, 1940-1996

The U.S. Nuclear Weapons Cost Study Project was completed in August 1998 and resulted in the book Atomic Audit: The Costs and Consequences of U.S. Nuclear Weapons Since 1940 edited by Stephen I. Schwartz. These project pages should be considered historical.

Total = $51.558 trillion

Note: National defense category has been adjusted to exclude nuclear weapons and infrastructure costs. Nuclear weapons costs are a combination of actual and estimated expenditures. Program totals do not match overall total because of rounding and the addition of undistributed offsetting receipts (not shown).

You have trouble posting a link, I am going to go with the Brookings Institute over you on this one.

Do you have anything to back up why you are not buying it besides racist youtube videos?

To clarify......$51T is total government expenditure over 55 or so years........

"The government spent around $51T on EVERYTHING from 1940-1996. 10% was on nuclear weapons alone."

Maybe above sentence unclear. Of the $51T, $5.5T was on nuclear arsenal. Either way, an astronomical amount of money. Without making anymore, it costs $6-7B / yr to maintain. Do you really think we need that many freaking nukes?!?!?

The link says this, and a whole lot more. Couldn't post the graph for you.

I'm betting Ray thinks we need another 10,000 nukes because Michael Savage said so. Haven't you heard? Iran is developing weapons of mass destruction... :142smilie

we been giving Egypt a billion for about the last 20 years.

300 nukes is more than enough to take out the entire world and send us back to the stone ages.

if we had to use 4 on Iran we could quickly fill that void.

it is crazy to pay so much taxs a year to take care of that many nukes

its dumb

and besides Obama promised that he would reduce the number of nukes.

Oh yes we can !

I was kinda warming up to Ricky but his recent attacks on woman working and abortion ideas and I am not sure he is fully vetted yet.

Here comes Nov.

Start a big war with Iran in Sept and secure the next 4 yrs . American people never vote out the incumbant during war times.
