ODU pk over South Bama
Both teams with identical records 2-3 but one is much better then the other.ODU was blown out by UNC but lost by 3 to St Joes and lost to Charlotte by 3 in D-OT.Losing their 2 top scorers lyr has hurt them but 6'9 Loughton from Perth,Aus has been on a tear.Avg 21 pts a game,10 bds,3 apg's and has hit 7-10 from the 3.Also shooting 29-34 from the FT.Hunter and Nance are solid gds.Hunter is 18-18 from the FT.Waller can score from the paint and a pair of 6'7's froshs, Vasyluis and Dahi can score.dahi on the bds has been tough.
So Bama has one scorer in Young.Phillips,Law and Williams are all 6'6 and avg 9,9,and 6 pts a game.Williams is the leading rebounder.And that is where they will get killed tonite.
ODU will control the glass.Bama defense is not very good and will have matchup problems all nite.They foul a lot yet get steals.
Problem is ODU is No1 in the nation in FT shooting.
They shoot 80% from the charity line.Good nite So Bama.
ODU wins on the road.
South Car -1.5 over Temple
I know Temple is due.But there going against a good defensive team with size and better athletes.Chaney has the "gang that can't shoot".And this is not the type of team your going to get your stroke back.
Hawkins is 15-48,Collins 10-40,Salisberry 8-29 and Taybron 3-22 from beyond the 3 pt line.I love Chaney but how do you sit and watch that.I know one nite they will all hit them because he wouldn't let them shoot if they couldn't.Butler is back and the 7'0 kid will help.But Odum has this team playing great.
They play perimeter defense so many of these shots will be contested.
Powell Kinsey,Gonner,Brown,etc can all score rebound well and hit the 3.Boynton could have a big game vs the matchup zone of temple.
SC has to many greyhounds that are quicker.
SIU -6.5 over Wright
SIU has balanced scoring,play good defense and should beat a poor shooting team team like Wright St.Brooks,Korn and co will control the game.
Wake Forest -10.5 over Smoo
WF is loaded.Williams,Levy,Gray,Paul all avg 12-16 pts a game.Downey,Daneluis,Strikland add depth.Levy on the off bds is a monster.This team avg's over 90 pts a game.Shoots almost 50% FG.
Smoo will pack them in tonite at Moody but Isham,Simpson and Lowe will not be able to handle the WF frontline.Hopkisn and bennett will be over matched at the gds.Wake wins by 15.
Marquette -15 over Cansius
Two Jesuits schools going head to head.griffs way over there heads.But Golden Eagles will just get the cover.Both Presidents of these schools are best friends. May the lord be with you..
