Should be a great game !!!!!
Not a spot I would make a move , but I gotta bet a little folding money on our boys @ - 110,screw bragging rights> We have more mobile defensive group and the main weakness for team USA is RICHTER (I know he is 3-0-1 so far ). This guy could'nt make it into our top Three,but he DID come up huge in the 3rd period against Russia.
Richter has seen much better days,and being shellshocked as a member of the Rangers,sure does not help...
I hope it turns out to be the kind of game the 'true'hockey fan is expecting. And ,Let's hope the guys are allowed to "PLAY THE GAME",nothing worse than some freekin Ref. that can't let the game be played as it should be - LOTS of good hard checks and very physical play.

The way it started you could just see we were good as GOLD..
Much better scoring chances (this is what I think is a vital stat. to look at when studying game films),as just the number of shots means VERY LITTLE.
What a sweet win,I guess that's why we were such big 'chalk ' to win the GOLD.

Nice way to win the Games: Gold for both the Mens and Ladies Hockey.
I'll have to do some game film studying to prep my guys to play with that kind of effort. Tough act to follow I think..

First off, the comment was made about a style of play, not team Canada. He said, "They (Canada) seem to like to dump and chase, seems pretty stupid to me." (or something very close to that, couldn't find it word for word) And yes, I think it was a strategic move. Some people think he was trying to use reverse psychology and sort of "trick" some players into trying to carry the puck across the blue line because that would be more advantageous to the American team.

Since you brought up this type of thing, I guess Wayne Gretzky won't be crying about unfair treatment and everyone hating Canadian hockey and wanting them to lose anymore?

All kinds of things are going to be said when the stakes are as big as Olympic gold, none of it necessarily means much though. Lots of posturing and attempting to get a feel for the opponent's strategy, nothing more.

Hey, Everyone likes to see the 'CHALK" get beat, it's just human nature to root for the underdog. Wayne got way too bent out of shape on this ..
When we go to a Tourny, there is ALWAYS one team everone wants to beat, and it will always be that way.

I sure know I am now,although I had bet them early in the year,dam ,all they had to do is win.But I found myself rooting for 'the dog' even though it cost me.
The right team won the gold ,and I think Brookes did'nt actually think they could run a 'Trap' neutral zone game against us.I was watching just before the game and the "D" was saying they would stay with their SAME style of play -dump and chase.They were saying The Russians did'nt do enough of this and hung onto the puck too long.
Anyway,Congrats. ALL AROUND to all who were lucky enough to go to Utah with the pride of their country going with them.

WOW,you must have bet Team USA. In what area did Herb Brookes prove to be a better coach,I must have winked that second. I think Pat Quinn was quite able to get a game plan developed without Mr. Brooks giving his help. Oh I guess Team Canada would change to the method the Russians tried -Not dump and chase.

Toronto is a major metropolitan city with a population close to 5-6 million. I know you are probably upset with Spanky and in the heat of a battle things are said that you didn't mean to say. But please, stop making fun of this great country of ours. Do you hear me making fun of the US? NO. I actually came on the board and wished my congrats to all American members here for your country having a spectacular result coming out of teh olympics with 34 medals(2nd overall). Also, for teh great spectacle that SALT LAKE CITY put on, the best winter games I have seen so far in my lifetime.

So please lets keep this peaceful adn get along with one another.
