Actually Lumi, I don't eat any fish or seafood other than crab legs. Not even shrimp. I have eaten Moose, Deer, Elk, Pronghorn, Mule Deer, Black Bear, Buffalo, Ostrich, Alligator, Caribou, Pheasant, Goose, and I am sure a couple others that I may have forgotten to mention. I do not hunt. I do understand that many people like it and harvest everything for their dinner plate. I don't have a problem with it at all, it just isn't for me. I do have a problem with those that trophy hunt or feel the need to trap for sport. I promise you that if I ever witnessed someone needlessly killing a wolf or something like that and I had a clear shot, I would drop the fucker right on top of his poached prize and would sleep like a baby that night. I have absolutely zero tolerance for the bullshit that surrounds those type issues. I realize that livestock in the mountainous areas are subject to slaughter by wolves and such, however, the wolves were there long before the ranchers. They decided to move into wolf territory not the other way around. That kind of crap and poaching are hot button topics with me but I don't begrudge anyone their right to hunt within the rules. My issue is with things like the fact that NOBODY eats Rhinoceros meat, yet they are critically endangered. It's a fucking travesty and it's those people that turn the populace against hunting, well those and Ted Nugent. He is a complete fucking douchebag.

Hope this helps,
FDC

:0074 Agreed. Last year I saw a booth at a local sportsmens show offering trips to Africa to hunt elephant and rhino. I snapped on this dude in the booth and created a big scene. Dude said it was legal because it is on a private farm. I asked him if they farm humans for hunting too... fukin idiot's.

I do wish Ted Nugent would shut his damn mouth already but as long as people give him a forum..........he can say what he wants. I like his music, but he talks too much for me.

His music is his platform. Just like all the movie stars that use stardom to push the liberal agenda. Ted hates Obama and the liberal agenda and has a voice through his music popularity to voice his opinion. I guess he is not on your side of things. So he should keep his mouth shut. I can see why kick would not like him as he does like to kill animals for sport.

No, I don't like the guy because he is a poacher, a draft dodger, a serial pedophile, a liar, and a generally lascivious person. So you are correct in stating that he is not on my side of things and I pity anyone who's side he is on.

Hope this helps,

Kickserv made it an anti-hunting thread  Kickserv values a person over an animal repeatedly on this forum.

Fdc, there is nothing wrong with legal trapping. Would you take away a man's livelihood? I wish I knew a trapper around here bc my property is crawling with stupid coyotes.

Whatshisnuts, I had some deer this year that was as good as any steak I had ever eaten. I never thought I would say that either. Whoever posted about the ducks being good, please post how they were prepared.

We had Doves, Mallards, and Teals. Breast out and cut into roughly 2" x 2" pieces. One of the guys developed and sells a wet sauce that we mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with sweet baby rays and soaked the birds for about 30 minutes. Put a pickled jalapeno slice on each piece and wrap with a small slice of bacon(about 1/8 a slice). Double skewer(makes for easy flipping) about 6 at a time. Grill for about 10-15 minutes based on size of pieces and heat level, basting with 50/50 mixture each time you flip. Obviously duck tends to get dry and tough if over cooked, so right before you think they are done take em off and enjoy.

In answer to your question Clint, I absolutely would take away a man's livelihood if what that man was doing was harmful or egregious. For instance, if clearing the Northwest woods meant eliminating the snowy owl, those lumberjacks would be done. In my world, there would be no need for trapping of bottlenose dolphin or Orca either, nor the need for animal trainers as SeaWorld would be gone as would zoos. We wouldn't be slaughtering whales either. Yes, without hesitation I would deny a trapper his livelihood, what in the fuck could he possibly be trapping that is essential to society?

Hope this helps,

we are not talking about the extermination of a species  I'm talking about trapping animals that are not endangered and using those animals as a way to make a living or supplement income. I applaud a man who can live off the land by hunting/trapping/gathering whatever as opposed to being on the government tit.

Speaking of whales, that show where they chase the whaling ships is about the most stupid piece of shit ever produced.

No zoos?

kickserv, about the only thing correct you posted in this thread was that the video was awesome and that Ted Nugent is not a real hunter. Shooting stuff in cages and claiming it is hunting is deplorable I will agree.

whatshisnuts, I am serious about the deer I ate. I would have said BS too and have many times, but I'm a believer now.

PS

The deer I referred to eating was from my farm. My neighbor was hunting near the boundary, and he heard a shot. A young buck ran onto my land and died. 10 minutes later, two fuckstains walked up tracking it. My neighbor said, "hey buddy, your deer piled up over here". The two fuckstains ran away like scalded dogs

The law around here is that you have to have permission to retrieve a downed animal on another property. Of course, I would want these guys to get their deer; no problem on my end. However, they were obviously hunting illegally and ran off like little bitches. My neighbor called me, I called the game warden which of course was a fucking wast of time, so I legally tagged the deer (on a landowner tag) myself which means I didn't get to go hunting. My neighbor field dressed and processed the deer, and that's the one we ate. It was a deer I would have never killed, but it did go to good use, and it was delicious. I hate poachers/illegal hunters.

Okay Clint, what animals that aren't endangered can you or anyone make a living at by trapping? Cows? Gathering is not trapping and not germane to this discussion. The only reason to trap an animal is for it's pelt, otherwise they would shoot the damn thing regardless of what condition the species is in. I don't applaud anyone for taking pelts, it's a waste of life. We also aren't talking about the government nor welfare so we can leave that out.
Zoos, what is the benefit of them? Somewhere to take the kids and burn some time? What do you think happens to those animals when you take the kids home and they close up at night? The chains go on the elephants, giraffes, rhinos, hippos and other large animals. Others go into the cages, some never leave the cages. Maybe some people think that a snake in an aquarium is a suitable living for the animal, but that is simply untrue. What is wrong with a free range sanctuary? Granted, they aren't as lucrative and take more care but the animals are happier and in their element so to speak. What would you rather your kids take home from a wild animal experience? A caged lion and a gorilla eating it's own shit, or a cheetah poised on a termite mound watching some warthogs root around? Zoos provide nothing in the way of learning animal behavior or discovering new things, nothing in the way of science, so that means they are there solely for our own enjoyment. You can reason it away all you want, but that is the truth of the matter.
I don't produce Whale Wars or any of those shows so I am sorry you don't like the show. I admire their commitment though. I noticed you didn't respond about the whales other than about the show though, so do you think commercial whaling is okay? Do people really need whale meat?
I also realize that the Whitetail Deer population has tripled or more in most areas of the U.S. and it is creating a problem now for farmers. It is my understanding that they are going to have four full deer seasons soon in Illinois, just to pare the herd. Why do you think that is? Some will say that the deer were more able to adapt to the changing landscape of deforestation, urban expansion, etc... That is only a half truth. The real truth is that we have eliminated their natural enemies. We have pretty much wiped out the Mountain Lions, Wolves, Bears, and all other predators from their natural habitat. We cut down their trees, filled in their ponds, and mowed their edible vegetation and they became exposed to our guns. They didn't go away on their own.
Again, I don't have a problem with hunting for food. I have a huge problem with hunting for a living.

Deer is much more lean than beef and will never taste like a steak unless the meat is in marinade for some time. Deer tastes like deer, so I call bullshit on the taste test thing too.

Hope this helps,
