Just because bettors would SMOTHER OSU at -3 or -4, doesnt mean the line is "begging" for ND money. OSU backers are gonna hang in there because its still less than a TD. BEGGING would be 8 or 9 my friend.

Im a little surprised at the 6, I had figured it around 3 or 4, but this is a 3 point game either way IMO
Derek totall agree with you. I think the line at or above a TD, ND would be the best bet but OSU under a FG you have to go with OSU, with all things considered in an unbiased world. So the line is close to where it should be. I'm interested to see how the line moves over this next couple of weeks. It should be a close a game and I too thought the openning line would be around 4. My guess by game time the line will be OSU -5. The difference in the game is going to be between OSU's offense and ND's defense. Both are well coached teams and this one should have some fireworks. Can't wait!

Burt Lancaster as Thorpe playing for Pop Warner at Carlisle ... that guy played some strange rolls, check out "the swimmer" (birdman, local hero, the rainmaker, elmer gantry, field of dreams) and one of most underrated movies ever: the sweet small of success ... when Burt tells flunky Tony Curtis, "Match me, Sydney" i laff every time.

take Munich to win the Oscar

oh yeah this is fball thread, go Slippery Rock! ;)

HONESTLY THIS LINE WILL NOT MATTER ~ ONLY WAY BUCKEYES WILL NOT WIN BY 10+ PTS. WOULD BE MULTIPLE TURNOVERS (LIKE 3+ IN THERE OWN END).

THOUGH THERE ARE BETTER GAMES OUT THERE TO BET ~ IF YOU ARE BETTING THIS 1 I WOULDNT EVEN PUT THE IRISH ON ANY TEASER!! :)

Apples and Oranges. This is a completely different scenario and matchup. I think Quinn will have some trouble vs OSU's blitz package in this one. It also remains to be seen how ND will deal with the spread and a mobile QB. As I recall, it didn't work out so well for them vs Michigan State. OSU is a very hot team right now, having covered 6 in a row since a 7 point loss at Penn State.

Tressel is also 3-0 SU and ATS in his last three bowl games, with an average ATS margin of victory of 21 ppg.

Also of note, OSU's SOS is ranked #2. ND #50.

If Troy Smith doesn't turn the ball over more than once, than I see this being a 14 point win for the bucks.

Well lets see... ND had problems with a mobile QB Stanton and lost only in OT. They absolutely destroyed Purdue (at Purdue) with a mobile QB.

Ohio State had to win at the very last seconds versus Michigan. Yet, ND dominated Michigan for 3.5 quarters.

ND has lost by a combined 6pts all year and yet we're going to lose by more than 10 pts versus Ohio St.

BTW - Quinn never gets sacked, mainly because of the schemes by Weis and having good blockers in the backfield with D. Walk and Schwapp. If you're counting on Ohio St. winning by blitzing then you will be in trouble. I agree OSU will have the fastest defense ND has seen this far, but blitzing will not be the determining factor if they lose.

IMO this will be a close game, but I'm looking at the over I see the final score being in the 55-65 range. ND plus 6 will be a gift.

Comparing Kirsch to Stanton/Troy Smith is a joke...Stanton and Smith are heaps better than Kirsch from a mobile QB standpoint. Purdue just isnt a very good team...and them beating MSU just shows the Big 10 is full of parity, although its a good conference.

OSU basically dominated that game against Michigan. They had two huge fumbles that cost them, yet they still outgained Michigan in yardage across the board.

This just isn't a good matchup for ND in my opinion...Especially since Weis is meeting a fantastic coach that X's and O's with the best of them for bowl games.

I'm sorry, I think this should read "Especially since Tressel is meeting a fantastic coach." Weis is the smartest coach in football hands down. "The man is simply brilliant," Tom Brady. And he doesn't have to wear smart looking glasses, a tie, and sweater vest to prove it.

This will be a fieldgoal game. And it will include "if's", there will be turnovers, it's part of the game. Just my take anyway...

BTW - Ohio St best win is Michigan... They haven't beaten anybody either... In fact 7 of their 11 games where played at home.

It will be a very close game (IMO) I would take the points.

Mr Wood,

One note to add a little sanity to Mr Tressel's bowl record. Last year he beat that jugernaut from Stillwater the vaunted Oklahoma State Cowboys in the toilet bowl 102-2. Les Miles the day of the game announced he was leaving the pokes for greener pastures in Baton Rouge. The quarterback that started for Olahoma State last year is now a safety. To put it mildly another B12 patsie.

We shall see how good the bucks are, i would advise them to bring their lunch since its will be an all day encounter.

to start to nitpick who is smarter between jim tressel and charlie weis is nuts, just like it is to pick apart tressel's bowl record.

there's little doubt that tressel and weis are probably two of the top five coaches in all of college football. one guy is not going to outcoach another. we, as fans, should be happy that two excellent coaches are getting a chance to meet up in a bcs bowl game. a few weeks prior to this game, we're subjected to the ol' ball coach against gary pinkel, who left all of his genius in toledo more than five years ago. talk about a mismatch. so let's evaluate the game on the field because neither notre dame or osu will win because of the coaches. they're both outstanding.

as for tressel's bowl record, three straight outright bowl wins as an underdog pretty much speaks for itself.

i think my general apathy and indifference for osu is well known. never been on ohio state fan at all. but tressel can flat out coach and has proven that in both the favorite and underdog role against michigan the last five years as well as the bowl games.

i havent bet much on OH ST in the past, but four games I watched closely during the sweater vest's tenure were this year's at Penn St, this year TX and when they lost at Wisky and the NC ST @ OH ST and Buckeyes showed me next to nothing on offense in form of ingenuity in 16qs ... tressel has been brilliant in post season but going against ND is something i wont do ... prob good game to watch and not have $$ on
