Just got done reading a nice little thread started by Pujo21 on what the line should open at on this game.

Well the line is currently Miami -13 and this is a "no-brainer" as of right now.....the play:

OHIO STATE +13

Seems like we're still reading about how Miami has too much speed for the Buckeyes and how they are going to win this game easily. All you see is Miami in the Media and you already have some Hurricane players doing some trash-talking. Well, just for starters, here's a couple early FYI's about Ohio State:

1. Coach Jim Tressel.....the guy will have his team prepared....that's not even a question.

2. Seasonal stats: Just put it this way....the spread is currently Ohio St. +13. This is an UNREAL number considering the MOST points the Buckeyes have given up all season was 21, which also happened be the first game of the season vs a potent Texas Tech team. On the other end of it, the LEAST amount of points the Buckeyes scored was 10.

In other words, you can see just by the above how out of whack this line is. You take the Buckeyes worst defensive game of the season as far as points allowed along with there worst offensive game of the season as far as points scored and you have Buckeyes losing by 11 (21-10) as the worst possible scenerio in that situation.

Feel free to add more comments.....I will add more info and angles as I get time on this one....As of now, Ohio State is the only way to go in this one.

Just a reminder to everyone playing the bowls......you gotta remember a lot of things can happen in the next couple of weeks such as suspentions, etc., so be careful if your playing the games early. I usually tend to lay only half my normal betting amount if I play the game real early and then lay the rest as gameday nears just so long the spread remains relatively the same, which surprisingly it usually does up until the day before or gameday.

GL to all in the Bowl Games :D

Very nice write-up & good thinking. I read a post by Bob Harmom who has been piccking games since 1957. He stated that the two best teams are not the ones in the fiesta bowl. He wrote that USC & Kansas ST. could beat Miami Convincingly
and that if Miami does win the Fiesta bowl they will win by less than a touchdown. So there you have it writtten by a legend prognosticator who feels the same as you do. Hope we all win. GL Joe

it seems like ohio st is picking up a lot of steam right now....good news for us miami bettors. ;) i think the main point here for me is that osu has not played any team near the offensive capability of miami all year. they didnt even play the best team in their conference for that matter. i have no doubt that miami is not as good as last year...that team was just sick. but they are still imo above and beyond any team in the country. they kind of reminded me of the lakers this season...the unmotivated champion that is just waiting for the playoffs. imo they only had two games all year where they had some real motivation to play a complete game, the florida and tenn games. both were road games where they felt they had something to prove. meanwhile ohio st. should of had no problem with motivation all season considering their history and yet they struggled with the likes of purdue, illinois and cincinnati. either way its just one game, one play. lots of games out there to make dollars from. good luck to all this bowl season. :)

all well and good for OSU

all well and good for OSU

but how many do you think they need to win, 3-0?

I have Canes 11/2 to win NC, and wont hedge the +13, all i could do that makes any sense is take OSU +450 ML ... tho i see very little chance of them winning SU ... maybe wait till halftime and see where it lies

were the rd games at NW, illini, purdue, cincy not proof enuff that away from Home Buckeyes are pretty mediocre for a NC calibre team

Canes away beat Florida, Tenn and WV ... I seriously doubt OSU woulda swept that board on the interstate ...

anyhow, maybe OSU will cover the 13, but backing teams with no OFF always scares me ...

gl, gregg

ps did harmon watch Kst play texas? they couldnt move ball to save life ... and didnt kst lose to COL? Kst for NC, please ... and didnt USC lose twice, just like k st, why not say Rutgers deserves to play in NC, they led Canes longer than any other team ... the 2 teams with NO LOSSES are playing for crown and whiners can say what they want, and hypothetical it to death--but these 2 teams found a way to win 12 times, unlike any other squads

I thought Georgia had a REALLY strong finish this season with those GT and ARK ass whoopins they delivered. If Kst. deserves a shot at the title, then I would think that Georgia and Iowa does too. But hey, I'm extremely biased towards the SEC.

You see my friends, that's why we need a PLAYOFF. Let the performance on the field do the talking! :director:

I'm leaning towards Miami in this game, the reason, Ohio State didn't show any offense. They won games on last play situations. This won't happen with Miami, they score. Hell they're 34-1 the last 3 years.

But Ohio State has a very strong defense. Maybe the

best Miami will have seen all year. I see an under in

this game.

Thanks for this post Lewey. Sports fans and bettors in general always tend to favor the offensive teams in their capping more than the defesive aspect and that's the point I was trying to get through in my initial post about this game.

Sure the Buckeyes don't score a lot, but one reason is because that's how the game develops with them..... and it's not coincidence!

The Buckeyes defense is very strong. Heck their last 7 games they only allowed a total of 62 points which comes out to an average of only 8.85 points per game!

For all those that think Craig Krenzel sucks, well I got news for ya. True he's not a big play type guy, but he plays within his means and that's all that is asked from him. He's does not make a lot of big plays, but is not expected to either! He does what is asked of him, he rarely screws up and keeps his team in the games.... That's why the Buckeyes were undefeated this season. Ok, here's his numbers vs Dorsey's:

Craig Krensel: 141 for 228 = 61.8% pass completion. 12 Touchdowns vs just 5 interceptions.

Ken Dorsey: 194 for 350 = 55.4% pass completion. 26 touchdowns vs 10 interceptions.

Buckeyes will also have a healthy Clarett who averaged 6 yrds/carry this season.....which I fully expect to have a big day in this one.

Would not be surprised to see a fairly fast moving along game which will also benefit the plus points the Buckeyes are getting.

Remember, offense isn't everything. Anyone remember those SuperBowl Champion Baltimore Ravens a couple years ago in the NFL. I know you can't compare NFL with NCAA too much, but that's exactly what the Buckeye team has reminded me of on a number of occasions all season.

Keep the comments coming. Definately a lot of opinions yet to be heard on this game.

Man, I hope you're right ndnfan. We're planning on going to the Fiesta Bowl and it will be icing on the cake to watch a competitive game.
Krenzel's is a heady quarterback but he really hasn't had to be used this year. Sure he made a money throw against Purdue and didn't make many mistakes all year but, everyone knows OSU is a run first, maybe pass second team. Even though Miami states it never puts "8 men in the box" it sure looked that way in the 4th quarter against WVU when the mountaineers were running all over them. Miami had to do something to slow WVU down. I think they'll do the same from the get when they get a taste of Clarett. He's a game breaker and a difference maker. All Miami needs to do is ask Michigan.
So I don't think OSU will be able to rely on the run until they prove to the Canes that they can pass. And with that in mind, no matter how good the OSU D is, Miami will score. I'm not sure how much, but they will score. And if OSU has to play catch up, they're in trouble. I don't think they've been down the entire year by more than 7 points and that was early in the game. It's unfamiliar territory and one that Tressel probably doesn't want to test.
Intriguing line because anything around 10 would flood Miami action. 13 gets you thinking.
Good luck on the bowls. What a great time of year...

Bowl record: 5-3

In addition to Ohio St +13

SteveHavs...Personally I'm staying away from the total, but if I had to play, it would be the Over for the 1st half and probably for the game. The Buckeyes are gonna play a lot more physical than they have in previous. The game plan at least early is to keep McGahee in check and put a lot of pressure on Dorsey and make Dorsey beat ya....that's from my source close to the players and of course game plans can change and have to if things aren't going as planned....we'll see.

Playing the following to sweep this game:

OHIO STATE +8 2ND HALF (1 UNIT)

Hopefully this game will make some believers with this Buckeyes team and how they're NOT overrated.
