Another guy that gets worked up because he has to press a button for English. Maybe it is harder for some than others?

You're obviously missing the point gmroz -- the guy is speaking quickly and loudly, so he obviously knows what he's talking about. ;)

As for the language argument, that one always cracks me up. Last I checked, most English speakers here in America are able to "scrape by" ok. The majority of countries in the world not only speak English, but they embrace learning new languages and it's often a mandatory requirement in their public schools. When Americans complain about there being other languages spoken here (even when they're not the primary language) it just makes them look ignorant.

That's just it -- where and when are they REQUIRED to speak something other than English? Are they really struggling to make it through their daily lives based on this "language barrier?" They get their panties in a bunch because there are other languages spoken in this country? Ohhhhh the audacity!!!

Man, the other day was a real bitch for me... it started with the barista at Starbucks who only spoke German. That was an interesting exchange. Then at lunch, I got stuck with an authentic Ital! Buon appetito, Americano! To round out the day, I had to take my car in to the shop and I got stuck having to speak Spanish with "Luis." Man, I just can't catch a break! :D

i think spanish should be required,brother..i`m all in favor....and theres good reason for it...,

it`s obvious it`s needed because many spanish speakers are not going to assimilate into the existing culture in any meaningful way and are not expected to....., and the u.s.`southern border is going to be left open.....

i`m a pragmatist...

I was just flipping the Wease shit. And I absolutely agree with you. If you live in a country, you should learn the primary language. I even think you should be conversational in the primary language of a country even if you're just visiting. Last year I had to brush up on my Canadian before I made the trek up to Vancouver. :rimshot

I just know it's not realistic to think there won't be other languages spoken here. To me it's a non-issue. When we get to the point that English becomes a second language, then I will start worrying.

What are the chances of being in Mexico, watching MNF and being to press the American, or English Language version of the SAP (Spanish Audio Programming) Button? :142smilie :142smilie

It is not easy to learn a language in adulthood. Many of the poor immigrants that come here do not have the time to learn a language and perform hard labor for 50 hours weekly. Just my opinion.
