How many idiots on here think that NFL football games are commonly "fixed?"

How many intelligent folks on here understand how far-fetched this is?

Do I think that games are "fixed".......no. Do I think that there are areas where there is tampering.......yes. In my eyes, a "fixed" game is one where the outcome is predetermined....like the WWE. That would involve too many people to ensure that an outcome is guaranteed. All the while, not one loose set of lips lets it slip that there is a fix?

Now, do I think that there is some tampering? Absolutely. Whether it is referees, coaches, players, etc.....I think it absolutely happens. There are a lot of greedy people out there. Way too many to think that none of them are involved in a sport like football. I think it's a small percentage and doesn't occur on a week to week basis like some people would like to think. But there is no way that football is 100% clean.

But ya know.....all of us still bet on the sport anyway. So what does that say about us?

ThankS for the advice joker. Do you actually make picks in here?

I want to put this issue to rest already because I love this site, but the " fixed" talk has gotten out of hand and it takes away from real productive handicapping talk. If I beat it to death, maybe everyone else will shut up with it every game they lose.

And again, thanks for the advice joker. I appreciate it

the fact of the matter is that NOBODY ever thinks a game was fixed that they won a bunch of money on. It's only the games they lost. In fact, Rivers must have been ont he take last night, fumbling that snap on purpose......:0corn

If you truly believe that NFL games are fixed and you STILL bet on them, then I nominate you for "The Most Stupid Mother Fucker on the Planet" award.......

Dear sir,

I am a part of the long-held, world wide respected internet show titled - The Nole Joker Report.

Please. No autographs.

I get free parking at the Seafood Bonanza because of the show, so, yes! You could say I make picks up in this bitch.

How many idiots on here think that NFL football games are commonly "fixed?"

How many intelligent folks on here understand how far-fetched this is?

The question is is there a tampering element involved with the NFL or any sport coming from the gambling element? We already know for a FACT that its been proven in the NBA and the NFL has much more gambling influence. So the question should be "How many naive dullards think there is no funny business whereas the NFL and gambling are concerned"?

On any Sunday....

...so goes the saying...

Any "fixing" would have to involve a QB - most QB's are type A personalities.

They believe they are invinceable and infallible. Most still believe they can win a game already 28 points down with 2 minutes remaining even after throwing 6 picks...

Only Art Schlichter has been close enough to fix an NFL game and his tired act was figured out pretty quickly.

Football is about emotion - a fired up NFL team can always beat an elite team mailing it in....

STL had the WORLD CHAMPION Cardinals in the clubhouse pre-game - New Orleans figured there was NO WAY they could lose.

They were ripe for upset....

Now with football, emotion can be hard to guage - since there are only 16 games - teams are usually up for every game - but sometimes there are obvious "traps"

The NBA is the easiest sport to see where emotion can dictate outcomes - they play 82 games - at least a quarter of a team's games seem to be mailed in....

Have you noticed all the teams who seem to play to an opponent's level? It isn't a fix - it is human nature.

If you can guage a teams emotion - you can make a lot of money in this game...

OK - I was thinking teamwise - refs on the other hand have so much video covering their actions - any consistent playcalling that (holding - pass interference) that swayed games would probably get caught on the league level eventually...

I don't think Tim Donahy would survive in the NFL.

They surely can't overide the cameras.

But go on believing in the tooth fairy and supply side economics.

And stay friendly.

Emerson, he got caught bro. Everyone else just keeps getting away with it year after year?

Not even being condescending there, just curious if that's what you think.

And do what extent are games fixed that us simpletons are missing?

In the world we live in today with all the scrutiny on every game, how do these people get away with it? Who is paying them? Is the nfl in on it? The billion dollar public companies (casinos)?

I want to know what your complex mind thinks

Dead on.

Again, has anyone ever attempted to buy someone involved? Probably. On any major level and with any level of success or regularity. Hell no.

So you think Donaghy was an isolated player? He says and there is no reason not to believe him that he was just the tip of that corrupt official iceberg but if you want to belive he was the only one go ahead.

There isnt alot of scrutiny on NFL games.

If corruption finds its way into Politics, or world banking and finance why would you have a hard time believing it wouldnt in something as simple as a football game?

If you want to believe that Santa exists than by all means go ahead. No biggie:mj07:

Banks and Pols need corruption to survive because the whole system is a scam. And they get exposed all the time by the way.

Nfl doesnt need it. They will make billions without it and go bankrupt if they get caught. Pols will be out of A job if they are not corrupt. The incentives are completely different. Apples and oranges.
