Better competition, ending the year hot, and Nix for So. Miss is out. 8 seems like a mighty fair number. Any thoughts?

...actually, teams that covered the spread in their final 3 regular season games are actually bad bets in bowl games and the Cowboys fall into a negative 14-41 ATS angle that is based on that premise. Also, teams that end the season with a win as an underdog of 7 points or more are just 2-12 ATS when favored in their bowl game. Ok. St. blew their wad in their season finale, as their win over Oklahoma meant more to them than this bowl game against a Conf. USA foe.

Forget about the mumbo jumbo of trends, numbers etc...this game will be won outright by Southern Miss. They have a better coach and have more to play for, Oklahoma State is treating this bowl like a party.
