OKLAHOMA STATE vs. TEXAS TECH ? November 27th, 3:40 pm
This game sets up nicely as two opposite styles of offenses meet at SBC Jones Stadium this Saturday to close out their regular season schedules. The Oklahoma State Cowboys, who feature the No. 7 ranked rushing game, will travel to Lubbock to take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the No. 1 ranked passing team in America who are also ranked No. 6 in total offense. Both teams are bowl eligible in the potent Big 12 South and both will be looking to make a statement as the winner of this game probably gets a bid to play in the Alamo Bowl with the loser relegated to the less prestigious Independence or Houston Bowl. Buckle up, because this is going to be one hell of a football game. These teams may very well pile on the points in this match-up as neither of these teams can be expected to get too preoccupied with defense.

To combat Tech?s high powered aerial assault, the Cowboys will try to keep the Red Raiders offense off the field by grinding out the clock with RB Vernand Morency and his top notch running game. The problem with that strategy is that while the Cowboys easily won the time of possession battle against Texas A&M and Texas, they were still badly outscored and outgained in those games. Oklahoma State began their season by beating the first five teams they faced but have to be a bit disappointed since they have won just two of their last five games. This team is only allowing an average of 220 yards passing per game but their secondary has yet to see anything like what they are in for this Saturday in Lubbock where the Cowboys have not won since 1944.

Although the Red Raiders record is just 6-4, they are still one of the most feared teams in the nation and have accumulated at least 500 offensive yards in half of the ten games they have played. Texas Tech is averaging right at 400 yards per game through the air and 7.3 yards per pass attempt. Red Raider QB Sonny Cumbie is a former walk on who is now just 59 yards away from becoming the 24th quarterback in NCAA history to throw for 4,000 yards in a single season. He continues to lead the nation in passing yardage with a 394.1 yard per game average, and has this game as well as a bowl, to boost his totals.

Texas Tech lost a heartbreaker in overtime two weeks ago to the Aggies and has had two weeks to prepare for this home game to close out their regular season. At home this year, they have lost only to Texas and following each of their losses this season they have bounced back with big wins the next week. This game can be expected to follow that pattern as Cumbie & Co. should absolutely shred the Cowboy?s young and inexperienced secondary as they tire in the second half. This line for this game opened with Tech favored by a more reasonable 7.5 points but is now down to 4.5 which should make for an easy cover in The Judge?s NCAA Game of the Year.
