if you are going to seed I would wait and do the winter seeding ..

real late to avoid the first frost..for a fall seeding..

aerating never hurts..lets the earth breathe.

Do you not find when you seed after you aerate that alot of the seed works its way to the core holes? May not work the same on residential yards, but given how short we cut our athletic fields it was a problem.

What winds up happening though with the rye is a poka-dot(sp) look as the seeds concentrate in the core holes. We waited a little longer this year between aeration and seeding, I think next year we will wait even longer.

It just hit me that we are probably talking about different kinds of aerators:facepalm:

all fescue..
