Above the Clouds....
Question for you buddy. Do those tow behind aerators do any good? I've got the tow behind dethatcher and use it every year. Just wondering if the aerator is worth buying and how often to use it? Thanks!!

missed the post somehow Morris..

water tank ones are great for 2 or more acres..

but they miss the corners and are hard to control in tight spots..

the spike pull behind's have never impressed me..

ya really want to pull the 3'' plugs when ya aerate

rentals are the way to go ..

sept..aeration..seeeding fert...

spring and summer are a waste of time and money.

I have the most beautiful front yard in Knoxville!!!

Wanted to see how it came in.....front and back next year.

4 different houses in the neighborhood asked me to help them with their yard. I said, "See you in Sept!!!!"

Gonna be busy next Fall!!!

Forgot to say thanks for saving me about $80 bucks. I'm going to rent the plug machine in the fall.

Are you saying the 4 step plan is a waste of money too and only fertilize in the fall?

get neighbors to do it all the same time..

6 or 7 jobs..and rental fee is down to beer money

no...the Scotts way that is posted on-line will work fine..

ferting now w/a crabgrass control would be great..

I don't fert in dead of summer because of stress and heat creating even more burn and shitting lookin' lawn..

Summer good look is all about earlier seasons prep and then a solid watering cycle..

Scotts site will tell you by zip-code how many inches of water per week for a good and healthy yard..

Screw driver test will do the same thing...stick a screw driver into the sod...if it goes down to the handle w/ease then lawn if properly watered...if hard and you are trying to stab concrete...then WATER..

great looking lawns are all about the pre-emergents and post-emergents applied..along w/quality seed..fert and water..now if your soil aint worth a shit then testing and corrections are necessary..

Scotts or Lesco web sites all have complete details about what to apply when..

the real trick to ALL of this is to get neighbors to go into a package plan with an independent lawn guy in the area..

You can find him around the area..Look for the guy applying fert or other granulars who doesn't have a Scott or any other [Lawn Doctor] association..especially those who do the cutting as well..

Gotta be certified independent TOTAL care guys who make their sole living cutting and maintaining estates...Those guys love group deals...5 or 6 homes...side by side or close..

4 or 5 apps a year..bingo...all ya gotta do is cut it 4'' tall and drink beer on the porch with the dogs..
