I am confused.
Ncaa rule book states only the person who fumbles can advance the ball on 4th down.
The wr catches the ball then throws it backwards 15+ yards and it rolls around on the ground before being picked up and advanced for the first down.

Rules state the ball is dead once any other offensive player recovers it. Yes it was a backwards pass and not a fumble but once it was not caught and hit the ground then it becomes a live ball and a fumble. It should have been dead back at the 40 and game over.

What am i missing???
Rules are clear on 4th down fumbles and advancement.

So if a backwards pass is recovered by the defense it goes in the record as a recovered fumble but if the offense recovers it then it is nothing.
That doesnt make sense.

having watched mississuppi for the last several years because of their great recruiting class I have found them to be the most unlucky football team ever, the way they lose big gams is amazing. no fault of their own.

What was so confusing is the 2nd pitch that didnt make it to guy was ruled a fumble and announced as dead ball recovery.
Both were pitches so why was the 2nd pitch viewed as a fumble but not the first.
The first pitch was just a chuck over his head. The 2nd one he was hit while trying to pitch but still pitching it.

Unlucky??? Bama disagrees with this statement.

This was not unlucky. They simply got beat. Their D was supposed to be able to stop Arky. They were carved up. When you're a 10 pt favorite at home, you don't lose to a 4-4 team that lost to Toledo.

you don't call blindly throwing the ball backwards 15 yards and it bounces up to the only guy who could have run it for a first down bad luck. And last year the kid breaking his leg as he was scoring to win the game bad luck. and as I recall Alabama was down by 20 points in the 4th quarter and if not for a bad call by the officials on the onside kick the game would never been in doubt YOU WOULDNT BE A MISSISSIPPI HATER WOULD YOU CORLEY?

If their defense wouldn't have given up 45 points in regulation, they wouldn't have been put in the situation they were for this play to ever happen. Yes, the play was unlucky, but it's their own fault for giving up 45 points before then. :0003

CANT ARGUE ABOUT THE DEFENSE OTHER THAN THE MUTIPLE BIG TIME PLAYERS THAT HAVE MISSED SEVERAL Games due to various injuries And why was Mississippi the last school the get an off week after 10 straight games? I know personally one of the players on Mississippi team and have been following them since the big recruiting class several years ago.

So now it's the schedule's fault for them losing the overtime game against Arkansas? First the refs, now the schedule. Can we not just simply put the blame on the fact that the defense gave up 53 points? Or that the offense didn't score more than Ark in regulation? Haha. It's college football, man.
