Canada

hmmmmmmmmm, let's see according to the stats, and a few mathematical calculations :

the USA SHOULD handle germany,

czechs versus russia = tough one...!! we'll chalk this one up to the hasek factor as the russians don't seem to have what it takes to go onto the next level (porous DEFENSE) with their staggard and unconsistent playing.
advantage CZECHS.

baring a miracle, Sweden should destroy belarus about 8-1 while resting their players in the third period to be fresh for the next round of games....as they will take out CANADA once again....

canada vs finland: Canada should be up for this one, hopefully they'll take out finland 4-2, I don't think finland has the maturity yet to go onto the next round with their "young" goalies...this one actually may turn out to be a lop sided game....

NEXT ROUND:

usa vs czechs : this year, i think is the USA's year as they seem to have the balance between offense and defense. This one should be a close game as well...
3-2 USA

Sweden vs canada : canada will be outmatched by sweden (if they even get PAST finland..), and the canadian dream will disappear just like most of the geriatrics on this fawking OLD TEAM!!!!
4-2 sweden

FINALS for the gold:

USA vs SWEDEN : this is the match that i MOST wanted to see if canada didn't make it. both teams are fast, offensively sound and good defensively (nobody gives tommy salo much credit...poor guy.)

this one should end 4-3 ...........FOR the USA.

seems that the USA are pissed off from their last olympics tournament fawk up.

he's an interesting stat which i'm sure everyone knows about...

The Americans are 19-0-3 in their last 22 Olympic games on home ice since 1932.

good luck to all.

While I mostly agree with the predictions you have put out here, I do think that Russia has a good chance at beating The checz and also believe that the canada/sweden game will be a much better game this time around..(same outcome in the end though) im afraid...You guys north of the border will have to wait at least 4 more years for your next gold medal in hockey. Well good luck to you and I hope to see you in the final:)

Belarus 4-3. Another miracle team? Wow. Who woulda thunk it. Love the writeup. Looks like Canada might have an "easy" trip to the final. Would be great to see a US/Canada final. GL

"In Sweden, however, the TT news agency called the loss ``Sweden's worst ever Olympic fiasco,'' comparing it to the Swedish national soccer team's loss to Japan in the 1936 Summer Olympics. "

Sweden, which didn't play with any desperation or fear until the third period, had tied it at 3 on Sundin's goal at 7:56 of the third. But Kopat's game-winning shot, which will be replayed countless times, came from the Olympic rings along the right wing boards near midice and ricocheted off Salo's headgear, bounced behind him and scooted into the net as he looked frantically behind him for it.
