My interpretation of "separation of church and state" is simply that the government cannot put its support behind any certain religion (unlike many other countries that do). I think this law was originally intended to thwart financial backing to religion by the government, or singling any religions out. This is what makes our country so great. The government doesn't force any certain religion on anyone!

However, the whole monument incident was a flat-out misinterpretation of the "separation of church and state" law. Just a shame... :nono:

Yeh a Federal Court Order to remove God from the premises.

I don't think they know who they are up against here.

Astikya - Faith

Cultivate an unshakable faith. Believe firmly in God, Gods, guru and your path to enlightenment. Shun those who try to break your faith by argument and accusation. Avoid doubt and dispair.

I saw a man upon the stair
A little man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today--
Gee, I wish he'd go away!

For the record Scott, I agree with his and your stance here, and Stuman is right, it is a blatant mis-interpretation of the law, and if I remember correctly Jay Sekulow and the American Center for Law and Justice are getting involved in this case, there will be more to this.

On the third day of the Hebrew month of Sivan, Moses was commanded by God to prepare the Jewish people for God's decent and visit. The Israelites washed and purified their clothes and their bodies. Three days later, on the sixth day of Sivan, the people were awaken by thunder and lightning. Thick, dark clouds hung over the mountain. The sounds of the Shofar, the ram's horn, were heard echoing across the desert. The earth began to tremble and shake.
Then the Israelites heard a voice, God's voice, as he spoke to them from out of the clouds.

And God gave them his Ten Commandments*

"I am the Lord your God, Who has taken you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery"

"You shall have no other gods but me"

"You shall not take the name of your Lord in vain"

"You shall remember and keep the Sabbath day holy"

"Honor your father and mother"

"You shall not murder"

"You shall not commit adultery"

"You shall not steal"

"You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor"

"You shall not covet your neighbor's goods. You shall not covet your neighbour's house. You shall not covet your neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his bull, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbour's."

Different religions have different versions of the commandments)

Moses went up the mountain and returned with the Tablets that contained the Ten Commandments.

Waco, Whitewater, Ruby Ridge, and the widespread aversion to the special interest money that plays too large a role in the election and reelection of politicians and in the laws they make -- all of these show that we are coming perilously close -- a complete breakdown of faith in our federal government. Poll after poll shows that confidence in government and politics is at an all-time low. Some distrust of government is healthy, be too much distrust leads to anarchy. We must restore some level of confidence in the problem solving machinery of society

The bottom line is this. We can no longer take "community" for granted in the United States. There is too much tension too much misunderstanding, too many separate tribes yelling; each other. It is a dangerous situation, and if our country and culture are to survive and prosper, we must first salvage that elusive concept of community.

Ok someone ends up not respecting authority just because the parents do not believe in God? How does one explain how sometimes a porn-star comes from born-again fundamentalists? Man, you can go on all day on this stuff.

What does God look like

A kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they drew. She would occasionally walkaround to see each child's art work.

As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was. The girl replied, "I'm drawing God." The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like."

Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, "They will in a minute."

Pictures in that interview were awesome, but was Larry King doing the interview? Pretty soft questions. None of them came close to answering what I would like to know.

Sistine Chapel: Built between 1475 and 1483, in the time of Pope Sixtus IV della Rovere, the Sistine Chapel has originally served as Palatine Chapel. The chapel is rectangular in shape and measures 40.93 meters long by 13.41 meters wide, i.e. the exact dimensions of the Temple of Solomon, as given in the Old Testament. It is 20.70 meters high and is roofed by a flattened barrel vault, with little side vaults over the centered windows. The architectural plans were made by Baccio Pontelli and the construction work was supervised by Giovannino de' Dolci. The first Mass in the Sistine Chapel was celebrated on August 9, 1483. The wall paintings were executed by Pietro Perugino, Sandro Botticelli, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Cosimo Rosselli, Luca Signorelli and their respective workshops, which included Pinturicchio, Piero di Cosimo and Bartolomeo della Gatta. Michelangelo Buonarroti was commissioned by Pope Julius II della Rovere in 1508 to repaint the ceiling ; the work was completed between 1508 and 1512. He painted the Last Judgement over the altar, between 1535 and 1541, being commissioned by Pope Paul III Farnese.

Nice picture of the Chapel. Did you know Scott, that Sixtus was the first of the final 6 Popes before the Protestant breakaway? Many wonderful artistics thing were done in that era but were materialistic and the rampant corruption of that era was never address of which both Julius and Sixtus were guilty of. Nope, don't think God was totally there.
In regards to questions for God. Why does he need to wait for prayer to intervene in affairs? In this secular world, as it is, many good things come from people who don't wait to be asked but they do. Why did he create man? If he knows all, past and future then why would he create something that in the end would betray him, rebel, etc.? If he created it, is he not responsible in the end? Please, no "Well he is God and is beyond human logic" type answers. That is like a politician sidestepping a question. Why can he be vengeful, jealous but we cannot? Executive privilage? Do as I say, not as I do? If you find out by all means let me know please, thanks...

That's what is nice about America. You can believe what ever you want. What Ever. Don't tell me what I should. I can make up my own mind. Im Thankful for that every day. Even God would like that. He remembers.
