am open to anybody in the mac tri-state region (or anywhere for that matter) trying to explain to me how in the world kent HC dean pees gets a contract extension through 2006?

he might be one of the nicest guys ive ever met in my life, but the fact remains that flashes aint getting any better under his watch.

he shoulda been let go before his last extension. now another one? losing 5 of your L7 this year, and 8 of your L9 last year is suddenly worth an extension? puzzling.

Bottom line on why pee's didn't get canned is that he has cleaned up this program, before he got there the football program was a mess and the graduation rate was one of the worst in the country. I could be wrong but he has the graduation rate up to 70% and there was no off the field incidents with Kent football players in the past few years under his helm. I agree with you on the fact that he really hasnt produced much at kent but in comparison to past regimes he has actually vastly improved the team, your talking about a team that won a grand total of 13 games from 1990 to 1999 ( I could be wrong on the years but they are close), Pee's has won that many in the MAC in the past three years. Another plus on Pee's side is that he has made great inroads into the area high school recruiting and is well liked by NE Ohio high school coaches. I think Kent made it perfect clear that Pee's doesnt have to create a juggernaut at Kent, by including the perk in his contract that it automatically bumps a year extension each time he wins more games then he loses in the MAC, which he should do next yer with Cribbs back and 16 other starters. If I was making the call he would of been gone last year, it will be interesting to see what Akron does in replacing Owens (new head coach at Ashland) since they obvioussly care more about winning then Kent.
