Any of you guys use an on-line stock broker? If so who and what are the pros and cons of some of the bigger ones?

Looks like I have some stock options from work that I need to cash in or lose and don't absolutly have to have the cash right now so I figure I will flush it down the toilet via the stock market.

Thoughts??????????????

just depends how much service and 1 on 1 attention really. If you're going to do it all on your own best to go with a very cheap discount broker that gives you a platform and options you're comfortable with. I personally use Fidelity and have used them the last 5 years without any issues. They can be a full-service broker if you need/want them to, but they will charge you for it. However, I don't use them to that extent and they will never call and try to get you into anything. Its all initiated from your end which I like. Their commissions are higher then e-trade (I know Jack uses them) I pay $19.95 on most stock trade while e-trade i believe is just under $10, but I can buy copious amounts of mutual funds without any transaction cost which I find very advantageous.

I use Interactive Brokers for most of my trades, but it is not as user friendly as most. My option contracts are $0.75 each way and stocks are $1 for up to 500 shares (does not include penny stocks).

I also recommend OptionsXpress, Firstrade, and Scottrade.

etrade has been great for me and great service but they have me as a power trader and and i have a 6 figure balance there.

i've heard lots of complaints from those who don't have the power trader status.

all trades are 9.99 for any amount. they have a lot of good features too, ie e*trade pro is a good tool to have.
