Forget about this final preseason week...most of the teams starters won't even see more than a cameo appearance...so

On to week #1

Where I locked this baby in already.

Bears -3
over Green Bay

The Packers have done very well over the years at home against the Bears but that was mostly during Brett Favres prime and when the Bears weren't very good...but the Bears swept the Packers last year and I just can't see how they won't come out of cheeseland with a big W in week one...Favre is past his prime and will be forced into turning the ball over because the middle of the Packers O-Line is their biggest liability...thus I expect a pretty good Bears Defense to pressure Favre up the middle...I also feel Thomas Jones will be able to run the ball effectively against the Packers and take pressure off of Rex Grossman who could be replaced by Brian Griese if he struggles...I locked this one in at -3 last week and fully expect the line to move up by gametime...the Bears by at least 4 points.

Chicago 24 Green Bay 16

I'm bringing out the gun for the first time this season!

Adding this teaser for a medium size play:

2 game 6.5 point teaser
New England Patriots -2.5
&
Seattle Seahawks ?pick

Patriots -2.5?The Patriots swept the Bills last season and have won 5 straight in the series?the Bills open here with a new coach?a new attitude and hope for the season?Bills QB J.P. Losman has made great strides in the preseason but that was in the preseason against ?vanilla? defensive schemes?not to say that J.P. won?t be better this season?but...to expect him to lead a young team on the road against arguable the BEST Defensive game planner in the game in Bill Belichick is asking a bit too much?the Patriots are 8-1 ATS as chalks in home openers?15-5 ATS as AFC East favorites and 21-7-1 ATS in their last 29 versus the AFC East?the Bills are 0-5 ATS in away openers and 7-13 on the road in the division?this might be close for a while?but not at the end.
New England 23 Buffalo 13

Seahawks ?pickem? At first glance this game said ?possible upset? to me?but then I broke this one down and felt the Seahawks were a good play as a pickem?the Lions come roaring into this one at home under a new coach in Rod Marinelli and make no mistake the Lions will play hard for their new task master?but?they are overmatched in this one?after upsetting the Broncos in preseason the team looked lousy in dropping their last 3 preseason games to three of the worst teams in the league last season in the Browns, Bills and Raiders and looked bad in all three?the team is a work in progress on the offensive side of the ball under Mike Martz while the Defense is in a bit better shape under Donnie Henderson?but the team still lacks the LB?ers to truly fit their new defensive scheme?on the flips side?I feel the Seahawks are a better team Defensively then they were last season with the addition of LB?er Julian Peterson and two potential playmakers in rookie CB Kelly Jennings and DE Darryl Tapp?yes their offense took a big hit on the line with the loss of OG Hutchinson? but their offense is in the capable hands of Matt Hasselbeck and Shaun Alexander?last but certainly not least?the Seahawks as a team felt they were robbed in their Super Bowl loss to the Steelers and will be carrying a chip on their shoulders entering this game especially since I expect Coach Holmgren to remind his team in a pre-game speech that this game is being played in the same stadium in Detroit that they walked off the field just months ago feeling they should have won the biggest game in franchise history? and can set the groundwork for a possible return to the Super Bowl for his Seahawk team?Seattle is 5-1-0 in their last 6 in September?4-0-1 in their last 5 versus the NFC?and 3-0 ATS in their last 3 as a favorite?Detroit is 3-0 ATS in their last 3 games in week #1?BUT?0-3 ATS in their last 3 as a home dog...0-3 ATS in their last 3 home games and 0-3 ATS in their last 3 games as a home dog of between 3.5 and 10.
Seattle 24 Detroit 16

Good Luck!

Glad to see your on this teaser. I posted this same play a couple weeks ago.

I sure am Pug...I've been all over the Patriots minus less than 3 (-2.5) since I saw the opening week one line...but...it took me a while to find a mate to complete the teaser...I also feel the Cardinals in their regular season new stadium opener are a solid 6 or 6.5 point teaser play over the Niners and I have a little coin on them with the Patriots in another teaser wager.

Good Luck this season!

I'm leaning toward the Steelers on Thursday because I'm just not sure how the Dolphins offense witrh Culpepper under center will do against what I feel will be an ULTRA Fired up Steelers Defense which knows it must play at a very high level to compensate for the Loss of Big Ben...I saw Culpepper play in preseason but that was preseason...I want to see him do it for real tomorrow in front of a LOUD :mj05: :lol2 Steelers crowd.

I also think that the game will be a rock'em sock'em low scoring battle.

I'm done leaning...I'm making the Steelers -1 a very small play for tonight.

I posted this play on Thursday in another thread...next week all my plays will be in one thread...much easier that way.

Tennessee Titans -2.5
over the Jets

First off this will be a battle between two teams that will likely be also be battling for the first pick in the 2007 Draft by years end...but...at least I know what I'm getting in the Titans but not from the Jets...Jeff Fischer always gets his team to play hard while under new Coach Mangini I'm not sure what to expect... but I don't like the report that was out last week that some of the veterans on the Jets are already questioning Mangini's approach to the season...also...I feel the Jets have gotten much better on their O-Line during the off-season with the additions of OT Ferguson and C Mangold but the team still doesn't have a dependable bell-cow to carry the rock without Curtis Martin and none of their receivers really scare me...plus...if Pennington can't throw the ball more than 50 yards... the Jets will be doomed...on the flip side I'm not crazy about the Titans O-line...but...their Center Kevin Mawae was let go by the Jets so I expect a supreme effort on his part...plus...the Titans have a stable of capable backs to carry the rock in Chris Brown, Travis Henry and LenDale White plus a play-making TE in Ben Troupe and a decent pair of starting WR's in Bennett and former Patriot Givens...the only question I have is the Titans QB situation in which Billy Volek has seemed to fall out of favor with the team thus the addition of Kerry Collins...I've heard that the Titans have several different packages set up for Vince Young to get on the field in different situations (to likely take advantage of his running ability)...all in all...I'm backing the Titans because they are Home...have an establish proven coaching staff and a heck of a good Head Coach in Fisher...more play-makers on the offensive side of the ball and and because I'm laying less than a field goal against a Jets team playing under a young Coach that will get his feet wet for the first time come Sunday...and before I forget...the Jets are 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 in Sept...1-7 ATS in their last 8 on the road...1-7 ATS in their last 8 as a dog and 0-5-1 ATS in their last 6 as a road dog of 0.5 to 3.0...the Titans are just 3-8 ATS in their last 11 as a home fav and 8-23 ATS versus the AFC...but...the Titans are 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 games as a home favorite of between 0.5 to 3.0...and 7-4 SU in their last 11 on opening day...for a small play I'll take my chances on the Titans minus the small 2.5.

Tennessee Titans -2.5

Adding this 2 game teaser for a medium size play:

Arizona Cards -1.5...The Cards have too many weapons on the offensive side of the ball for the Niners to handle...I do feel the Niners will be much improved in Mike Nolans second season...but...the Cardinals get the "W" in their official regular season home opener for their new stadium.
Arizona 23 San Francisco 16

Baltimore Ravens +9...The Bucs offense under Simms didn't impress me in the preseason...Gruden and the Bucs invested a first round pick on OG Joseph to shore up their line but he got hurt last week as did their other rookie Guard Bunning who were both projected to start today...the Ravens middle of their D-Line is stronger with rookie Ngata in the middle...just a hunch that QB McNair carries a chip on his shoulder this season after getting dumped by the Titans...with McNair the Ravens feel they have a legit chance to make a run at the division...Something tells me I may not even need the points in this low scoring battle.
Baltimore 16 Tampa 13

Good Luck to all!
