toledo up 17 at halftime against bg.
toledo blows the entire lead.
ingram misses a game-winning 3 at the buzzer.

rutgers up 18 at halftime against cuse.
rutgers blows the entire lead.
shiels misses a game-winning 3 at the buzzer.

providence up 11 midway through the 2nd half.
providence blows the entire lead.
mcgrath misses a game-tying 3 at the buzzer.

this week has really tested my capping resolve. should be having a huge week, instead its been nothing but frustration.

........which brings me to thursday night in the horizon. and the team i feel like ive got the best read on out of any D-1 team in the country.

12/8/04 csu (+) at akron
1/11/05 csu (+) at wisc-green bay

this will be the third time i play them all season. and im expecting this one to come through just as the other two did.

this game will be a pretty good indication of if my capping is still on point, or if this just aint my damn week. because this is another one of those games that i circled a few weeks ago. anticipated this being a very favorable spot for them, and it is.

cleveland state vikings (+2)
cleveland state vikings moneyline (+120)

as much as i like butler, theyre just not the same team as theyve been in the past few years. theyve always had one guy in that lineup that could just kill you at the most critical of times. last year it was monserez. the year before it was brandon miller or archey. prior to that it was hainje. this year, its nobody. this team lives and dies on the perimeter. their 3pt attempts / field goal attempt 'split' is ridiculous. 796 shots attempted this year. 371 of them have been from behind the arc. thats 46%. to me, anything above 33% is a sign of a team that has very little inside. its no surprise then that butler has won just once away from hinkle fieldhouse this year. they rebound the ball like shit too. when they made that deep tourney run, they still shot a lot of 3s but they were shots within the offense because they ran their motion well and guys from the inside would kick it out to miller or archey. now, its really just a stagnant offense where they pass it around the perimeter.

as far as cleveland state goes, theyve actually played solid basketball their last 5 games. theyre only 2-3 in that stretch but they put themselves in position to win 4 of the 5 (got blown out at milwaukee. no shame in that). westley is finally starting to realize that he can dominate this league when he wants to. he's averaged almost 23 a game his L4 and butler has nobody that can really stop him. in the 2 gms they played last year, he had 19pts/12reb and 16pts/9reb. he SHOULD have a great game tonight. i say 'should' because sometimes he just doesnt show up. but butler has nobody to stop him, especially this season.

if csu needs any motivation, they only need to look to the last two meetings in cleveland. vikings lost in double overtime (79-75) two years ago to the butler team that went deep into the ncaa tourney and then last year, a csu team that was completely decimated by injury and only dressed seven guys lost a heartbreaker when monserez hit a shot with one-tenth of a second left to win the game for butler (57-56).

in recent years, csu has been outclassed by butler and still played them tough, especially in cleveland.

this year, butler is considerably down, and csu is finally improving.

this is the kind of game csu has to win if they want to start becoming a respectable horizon team again. and if westley doesnt have a big game, then im gonna be very surprised. butler has nobody to stop this kid. hopefully he realizes that.

vikings have had a weird ass schedule. they were on the road almost the entire last month. and now theyre home for almost the rest of the season. time for them to show some sack and win some games.

this is the only game im playing tonight.
theres a gametracker for the game if anyone is playing or fading this one and they want to follow it with live stats:
http://csuvikings.collegesports.com/sports/m-baskbl/sched/clst-m-baskbl-sched.html

as for me....im gonna make the drive and buy a ticket to catch this one in person (and crack skulls if the vikes dont get it done, lol).

best of luck.

I play most of your suggestions. Toledo was my biggest of the year, it covered, Rutgers was for 1K and it covered (I know a little about Rutgers and actually won twice because I hit the half-time Cuse number hard, . This one will be a good size wager, 2k with the points. It is time to hit the ML but i am a little shy and the risk/return is not strong enough.

I don't know if you guys like listening or watching games you play but you should try that link the Gman mentioned. This announcer is going nuts, you'd think it was the NCAA Championship. 26-5 Vikings early. Drinking some jack next to the computer speakers. Good start. Let's Go Vikings! :mj14:
