gman, i've been lurking for about a month now. i love your write-ups, and i've been tailin' ya on a lot of plays, including all three games you mentioned in your post (had providence in the first match-up w/ BC, too. painful). thanks for the vikings tonight - glad you had a front row seat - and for all your work.

thanks for the words fellas. tonight was the kind of games where it makes all the time invested in 'capping worth it. cleveland state played arguably their best game in the mike garland era and they did EVERYTHING they needed to do to win.

they got out in transition and forced butler out of their halfcourt game and into csu's running game.

they dominated the boards.

they did an outstanding job of closing out on shooters damn near every possession.

they did a great job hedging on butler's non-stop ballscreens (which is how butler gets so many open looks normally)

and raheem moss had a bigtime game. he looked like a big-time D1 player tonight.

hopefully csu builds on this game. theyve got a stretch of games at home where they can start getting this thing in the right direction.

and yeah- being able to catch it courtside was all the better. before i took my seat they were up 7-0. and they were up 16-0 before butler scored, lol.

but im not gonna lie. all i could think of was the collapses from earlier this week so i didnt get too confident. but they just kept their foot on butler's throat and dominated the entire 40:00.

oh yeah --- winder and dirtybirds, sounds like you guys got your first taste of listening to frank demarco. dude is an absolute trip. he could make a game of checkers seem like the greatest thing in the world. its funny as hell listening to him call a game, and even better when youre on the csu side of a viking win (although theyve been few and far between the last few yrs)

catch you guys on saturday.

Great call G, Not sure what the Vikes had for breakfast today but they should stick with it. The 17-2 run out of the gate left little doubt as to the outcome. It is good to see Garland and the Vikes improving ,and all the better when it pads our wallets.

I'm looking forward to the trip Sunday, though I must admit that the Redhawks scare the hell out of me. I'm hoping that they worked out all of their frustrations on the Broncs last night. I keep waiting for the Zips to toss a real stinker of a game but it has not happened yet. Dambrot has these guys playing hard every time out and has fresh legs on the floor at almost all times. Simply put: masterful coaching. I'm kind of glad that were catching this roadie on a Sunday afternoon, as the energy level may be turned down a notch at Millett. What kind of number do you think that they will put beside Miami ? I'm thinking 5-6 ???

its a shame that moss went down with that injury at akron because you didnt get a chance to see this kid for a full game. he was the real deal tonight. no doubt in my mind he would be the best player on the bowling green roster today had he stayed there. overall it was the best ive seen csu look in years. this is where the real test comes though. theyve got wright state coming to town on saturday for a fox sports net game. raiders are a solid team and vikes cant afford to lay an egg on saturday after such a emphatic win tonight. can they handle any sort of prosperity? we'll see.

as for akron, i really think that we might not even see 5 for the akron/miami line. i think we could see 4 or 4.5. i know miami's dominant win over wmu might skew the # a bit, but akron has been beating the piss outta teams for the last two or three weeks. like you said, maybe akron is due for a clunker but at this point, i think they might be past that stage and are just playing incredibly confident basketball. would like to see ya bring home an akron win. if line is fair, im giving akron a shot. but if its under 5 (which is kinda what i expect) then ill pass and just hope for an akron win. regardless, thats gonna be an awesome game. enjoy it. miami is the one mac campus ive never been to actually. but hear its awesome. go zips.

Gman - just want to tell you how much we appreciate the time and knowledge you put forth on a daily basis. I look for your post each and every time and love the analysis. I've been coattailing pretty hard, and win or lose - just want to say you're appreciated.

Yeah, Moss appears to be the real deal, kind of glad he did go down that night or the Zips probably would have lost that game, but there is no comparison of the Zips of early season and where they are at now.

I kind of see the Miami line in the same respect as you, though I think that asking the Zips to steal this one on the road may be asking a bit too much of them. If the number is 4 or less I'll back the 'Hawks for sure. I never let my heart obscure my view of the bankroll, which by the way is on the rise after a really nasty 2 week swoon in January. Seeing Chapman not dressed before the BSU game was helpful for sure. If a similar situation arises in the future you could aiways call me just prior to the tip for the scoop.

As I was reading the Plain Dealer this morning about the game, I was half-expecting to see Garland quoted as saying something like, "I didn't have to worry about my team letting down in the second half because there was this deranged man near the court screaming at my guys to keep playing hard because it had been a tough week for him." ;) Congratulations, gman, you earned this one.
