went to the games last night in seattle ...

could write a book on matchups but i have to get to our first practice soon ...

anyhow, UW was up 62 with 8 mins left last night on woeful morgan st, no height, strength, butch beard shakey job with team, etc, and UW called off press with 8:23 left and basically stopped scoring after that they wnet over at exactly that time frame too... the UW shot lights out 57% and basically alternated/played 10 kids, no one getting over 24 mins ...

usgb beat a starless greensboro team in game 2 ... GB is slow but can shoot, tho basically standstill shooters, this Tillema kid hit 6 treys in fh, a 6'8 frosh whose HS team won wisky state titles all four years--unprecendented in their state ... they run a 1-2-2 zone which could trouble UW in that they #1 havent worked vs it much this year and #2 will def. slow pace as morgan st played man all game--thats why im leery on O150 ...

i see a 84-55 type score ... if UW can force multiple TOs they cover this and it goes over

UW -22.5

Tillema played at Randolph, which is in D4 (the smallest schools in the state). His first three years, they had him and Greg Steimsma, a 7-footer that plays for the Badgers now. They would play non-conference games against teams like Madison Memorial (last year's D1 champ and probably the second-best team in the state last year) and Duluth East, a 2000+ enrollment school in Minnesota. So come playoff time, they would suddenly be playing schools their size and just manhandle them. No idea how they are able to grow such tough players out of there.

thanx BJ, that kid is savvy, a poor mans adam morrison ...

I like GB's coach, he just has a lot of frosh and UW's best 3 players are seniors, well J. Brockman might be up there as frosh too--an animal and nba future IMHO ...

GB will be good down the road, their lack of quickness in backcourt should hurt them in this game, the canadian kid will struggle I think

RRC- Steimsma should get a decent chunk of playing time I would think. He seems to be developing better than Butch, at least at the moment. We'll see how he worked in the offseason.

I'm not really sure what to expect of the guys this year. Tucker is obviously a beast, but depth has to be a concern and I'm not sure how much help we'll get from the freshmen class (I'm still seething that Mathews chose Marquette over us). The kid from SoDak I actually saw play a couple of times when I was living there and he was a sophomore at Sioux Falls Roosevelt HS, and he was legit then as just a 16-year old, so I'm hoping for some good things from him. But with his injury issues, I don't know how much of a factor he'll be this year. Same with the kid from Milwaukee Vincent. Great player in a ferocious HS conference last year, but he was no Mathews. But I figure if Bo can get a Big 10 title out of that team from 2002 (a team I didn't think would sniff .500 before the season started), anything is possible.
