no point in giving a lengthy write-up when theres not much to go on, but i do think this is a pick'em type game where memphis has nice value.
*wake is depleted in two key areas. obviously their star is gone (howard) and taron downey is almost definitely not playing. we all know what howard did for that team. very versatile and just a good leader. it will take a month or so before wake finds their identity. with downey out, that takes away wakes primary floor leader. while his stats might not reflect it as a big loss, he is an integral part of that team
*memphis plays far more aggressive and physical defense. and early on in the season, you can sometimes win on defense alone because few teams have are running their offenses to perfection and it takes awhile to get acclimated to new personnel (similar to the nba).
in january and february, wake wins this game by 5-7 points. but in mid-november, ill take a team that gets after it defensively. wake is going to be solid this year, but not easy to just dominate out of the gate sans howard (and downey for a short time).
